No harm taken, just to clairfy that price is just for the HST, the rest of the back end is 3-5K from what I hear. haven't priced that yet. I've seen rebuilt Kubota engines for these going for 3K on the net somewhere.
I know your quote about the working spare was intended for the transmission but I relate it more to the entire tractor. A working tractor will ease the pain of the money over time. ****, I make money every day.

OK, got it into the shop finally and the hydro is shot according to the mechanic. Has to order parts 1545 for tranny and misc seals. Another 1200 for tear down and fluids, tax so on..... Ouch..... but it sure beats a lawn ornament. I'm going to get the old tranny and take a look at it to see if there is any way to get it fixed for a working spare.

I hope that works out well for you, I truly do. I started only with a BX2200, but I also bought a JD rider mower. It is my hope that since I now have two ways to mow the yard, if my tractor does a similar thing, I will repair it myself and save the labor cost, but not the parts cost.

Another member lost his HST, and claimed that the problem could have started as a priority flow valve failure. He is a very sharp fellow, and he said he is planning to mount a gauge to make sure he knows if his charge pressure ever drops again. In that same thread, a fellow who seemed to have a wealth of knowledge about such things said he was very surprised that some Kubotas don't have direct indication of charge pressure.

That has got me thinking about such matters. I want protection of some sort. I just have not decided what form the protection will take.

Again, good luck, and I hope it works very well for you.
