Thank you Cpicton1 and Duane for the replies. Good advice about the smaller mower deck and the BB. I've got the okay from the boss(wife) and I'm about to pull the trigger on the bx22. A dealer out of Portland has a new one for 15,500. Does anyone know how big(size/weight) of a BB I can go with the 22? I have read here that weight is very important to utilizing the BB properly, but I wouldn't want to overload my machine. Anyone recommend a model number? Price? Thanks so much to all the peope who take time to help newbies like myself. And to the Mods: once again, Great Board!!!

i do beleive the BX is well equiped to MAINTAIN your 3 acres, but i think u might be well advised to rent someting bigger for clearing or hire it out, a small dozer with a good man on it will do a fine job in short order then u can do the fine work at your own pace.

Or do all you can with your BX, and hire /rent bigger for the rest. If you can do part of the cleanup first, it would make the rest cheaper /faster to do.

Best wishes,
Ron

Yes Ron, that was my plan. I have a year and a half before I need to cut ground for a foundation. And Frank, you point is well taken. I don't want to wear out a good machine pushing it past what it is intended for. My plan is to have a lot of the clearing done(75%) or so by a bulldozer in conjunction with the tree and stump removal. But I figured I would get done what I can in the meantime. I can't wait to get the thing home so I can put all of this good advice to work. Thanks all!

I have a 48" BB on my 2200 and it will do a fine job. however it is a learning process to do a good job. I was able to shorten my top link and fill the box to overflowing in 10 feet. or you can lengthen the link and level out your land. The BB is not a implement to be used on grass the roots will clog your raffers or the blade and then they will not cut the soil. I find the BB works best if you have a fairly open area and can set the hight of the blade and just run all over the area needed to level, this will give you a consistent level as opposed to doing straignt runs and lifting the blade every time you reach the end of your run. It is impossible to find that same setting again. hop this helps as i am still learning with mine also
Gook luck kevin
