The diesel shop working on our misfire problem, noted in another thread, found the plastic propeller shaft fan is missing some blades, causing vibration from imbalance. I suspect this may have been this way for many hours, though I had no clue about it until now.
I am considering installing the fan myself. Our Kubota dealer says this problem with missing blades is common and has them in stock. The part is only $12, but installation is over 3 hours of labor. I do not have a shop manual, so I do not know how much needs to be removed to deal with this. Can anyone share their experience with this replacement?
I have a parts blow-up. It looks like the fan is held on by two bolts. To save a lot of time and effort, I am wondering if it might be possible to cut the fan in half to install it without removing the prop shaft, then secure with the two bolts and epoxy the two seams.
Please advise.
Thanks in advance!
