I already have the redesigned part, I was wondering if there is another redesign to beef this up for if it's just going to keep breaking every 200 hours.. ?
Thanks,
- Patrick

I have broken 3 of them the last one over 100 hours ago I looked at it and don't see how it hurts anything to just let the plastic parts move around I am going to just leave mine broke. I cant see any damage to plastic housing from leaving it broke

When mine broke, I replaced it with a large plastic tie wrap. You can buy them at Home Depot, Lowes or maybe your local hardware store.

Ditto here. Mine broke last year and after hearing the price I would be paying for the replacement part that seemed to be not much of an improvement over the original I just grabbed an extra large nylon tie wrap and secured the filter, it will probably last longer than anything else.

The strap is available separately from the mount, it was only $8. About 20 minutes to install... guess I'll stock up or try the plastic-tie approach.

Don't think mine is broken yet--guess I'll add a zip tie next time I'm under the hood!

My dealer made some sort of modification to the mounting point where the strap attaches to the engine in addition to installing the redesigned strap but I'm not sure what. So far so good though.

When mine broke I told my dealer when I was in there getting some new mower blades and he just handed me a new one and said they all break.

Tie wrap is a good Idea.

Tie wrap is OK but the plastic will get brittle pretty quick. My son took a piece of fire hose, about 2" wide when flat, cut a piece to length, drilled mounting holes and used fender washers and bolted it back in place. Has worked fine, gives when it needs to. That was 2 years ago and still going strong.

Assuming that the BX 2200 air filter bracket is the same as the one on my BX23... I'm on my third replacement bracket in 220 hours... My dealer has me bring him the broken parts and gives me a new one in exchange.

Right you are, when using a fixed bracket, however, cut an old canvas hose to any length needed, and it gives but holds with tenacity.
It works for me. I will attach a pic for you tomorrow.

I never broke the airfilter strap on my BX23, but after 120hrs I noticed the strap support brackets had broken off at the base of the bracket, closest to the engine block. I ended up with the bx22 upgrade kit. I didn't use the clamp assembly only the brackets. However I did notice the upgrade kit appeared to be the same as my original BX23 kit with the exception of a rubber strip that lined the clamp. The 23 has a foam strip that has double sided tape to keep it adheared to the stap.
I noticed at about 80 hours the backet bolts had loosened and one had completely fallen out. I used some blue locktight and retorqued. Then at 130 hours both brackets had broken off, but the bolts where still tight.
When I reassembled for the last time. Only this time I changed the torquing sequence and torque the brackets to engine block first, then snugged the brackets to clamp assembly, then tightend the clamp. I worked my way out from the block to the air filter.
I don't think this is the same issue ya'll are experiencing, but something I thought you may like to know. Its now part of my daily check and at 150 hrs...so far so good.

It broke on the BX 1500 that I was demoing, sound like a real defective part, the tractor only had eight hours.
