BX2200
You just know its going to happen sooner or later, my BX disapointed me today.
I have a 2 ton 1962 chevy ex-grain truck with a dump box.
I was digging for some gravel on our property hoping to load the truck and dump in at the tractor shop site when I discovered the FEL could not lift high enough to get over the side. I tried finding some place low enough to run the truck into but nothing had a sharp enough drop to be useful.
That B7500 probably could have made the reach.
Now what?

I had my L35 and BX delivered by a guy that didn't have ramps, I took my Ford and carved a hole in the ground for the trailer to back into to but up against the dirt. How short are you from reaching? Any possibility of making a little hole just for the tires to go into? Or how about using that super powerful BX loader to make a mound for it to drive up on?

If it is a matter of being to go UP enough but not OUT enough you could fabricate a ramp for the dirt to hit and go into the truck. Also is it possible to take air out of the truck tires and refill them with a compressor? All of this of course depends on how much work you're doing and what work you want to do to get the job done. Where there's a will there's a way!

What kind of Cheby you got--I have easily loaded dirt into several different pickups with no problems and plenty of lift capacity left. You must have some kinda truck!--is it one of those Bigfoot trucks?--do you have a Rancho type high rider lift kit on it? Hades, my Toyota is like up in orbit and I can get over it's side and my neighbors F250 4WD also. Let's add that to the future wish list for the BX2400--telescoping FEL! J

Cut the sides of the truck bed down, haul a little smaller loads.Kinda like the loader on the BX,just a little smaller load.

Woodstock,

You could use your loader and available gravel to create a small ramp wide enough to safely drive your BX onto. You could easily load the tall sides of the vehicle without having to cut into the truck. Although cutting the sides does make sense if you need to load the vehicle at multiple locations around your property and don't want to build multiple ramps. If not, I'd say build a ramp, then move the gravel for the ramp to finish your tractor shop project.

I might be wrong, but as I recall, the 7500 lift reach is almost identical to the BX2200 according to the brochure.

You might be able to use a couple of car ramps - perhaps with a piece of angle iron welded between them. We're only talking 500 extra lbs at most in the bucket - and the BX weighs less than a car anyway - the ramps should take it easily. You then have a portable solution too.

Maybe I should make lower sides for the truck?
DSCN1647.jpg

It is like a stake side truck. I could make side that are 1/2 as high.
I'm not to crazy about making a ramp to drive on. I'd like to keep on flat solid surface with the loader at full tilt and a load of soil/gravel.
The hole for the truck might work.
Comments?
PS In case your wondering those are 20 inch widow-maker split rims.

Woodstock,

Rather than shorten the side walls on your truck, you could have my truck, 3/4 ton, 66 Fix Or Repair Daily, and I could have your truck. I think it would be easier to add the dump bed to mine than shorten your's.

Wood,After seeing the truck,I would say the bed sides are pretty short now.I'd say building a ramp might be the way to go.BTW,VERY good looking truck for its age.A friend of mine has a 60's model Ford dump truck, about the size of yours. He goes out and picks up 150-200 bucks a day hauling short loads of gravel and black dirt.Says he has paid for that ole truck many, many times over.

Fishman,

Your recall is pretty good. The LA211 (BX2200) max lift height 71.3 inches, LA302(B7500) Max lift height (to bucket pivot pin), 69.5 inches.

Clearance in dump LA211 - 51.2 inches, LA302-52 inches.

My wheelbarrow max height before dump is 14.5 inches to bottom of the bucket, whats yours? /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Just another example of how the "too little" BX can do things we keep getting told it cannot. Oh well, get a bigger tractor and when it squashes your yard, cannot fit through your gate, or mow you hillside or turn around under your deck or fit in your garage or do all the things the BX can do so well--better than it's bigger brothers you can buy another. Yes--the BX has more lift and reach than the 7500 loader--I am looking at here in the brochure right now--oh well--next. I am hoping to be voted BX High Cult Priest, I will now go and kneel before the Mighty BX and offer it fresh oil and a wax and perhaps a burning of L Series brochures to lesson her anger. J

Thats a great truck! and it looks like its in great condition! What size engine is in it? and what did you pay for that gem? I would love to find one in that shape, just to have when needed. Oh, buy a bigger tractor to fill it!

build a small ramp, should not take long, u can't need that much more height to dump over the side..

It is an in line 6 cyl, weren't they 239 cu inch. I can't remmeber. I have has it for three years. It's great. Every fall I take out the battery. In the spring, I put it back in pull out the choke pump the crap out of the gas petal for about 5 sec and start turning it over while pumping and 2 sec later its running like a top for the rest of the season.
It has a two speed rear end. To bad it's not three speed. I am always looking for 5th gear on the hwy when it tops out at 50 mph. At which point, because it has no radio (truck is too loud anyway) and there is no 5th gear, I start singing (screaming) I CAN'T DRIVE 55.
It has 32,000 miles on it and it is an ex-grain truck.
I paid $1,500 for it and another $400 for an old set (6) of brand new tires. I have a used windshield sitting in the shop waiting to replace the cracked one.

We call it Hank. My wife's deceased Uncle Hank had one just like it.

TresCrows,

You shore do like your BX./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif I also got the numbers for the loaders from the sales brochure. They may not compare one to one. Neither brochure identifies very well how the measurements are taken. It's a little curious why the LA 302 has 52" of clearance when the bucket is in dump while the LA211, with about 2" higher max lift has a clearance in dump of 51.8". Longer bucket?? The max. lift height for the LA302 was to bucket pivot pins, the location for the LA 211 wasn't defined. I think fishman got it right, nearly identical. As far as "BX High Cult Priest" you sure got my vote. I don't think the job pays that well, but I could be wrong. My wife still reminds me that her B7500 does not have the cup holder like the BX/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I saw my first 7500 when I drove the BX with FEL yesterday. The only thing I liked better about it was the tach. Even money, I wouldn't trade. Course it may fit others needs better than mine.

Actually again despite the naysayers who insist the BX is weighed differently from other Kubota tractors and now it is that the FEL is measured differently!? Nope, the brochure and my operator manual show the measurements are taken in the same way. The BX has more height than the 302--sorry--but the BX pulls out on top in this case! The measurements are taken from the brochure on the 3rd page of the B1700/B2100/B2400 and 7400/7500/2710/2910 brochures and several others I have that shows a diagram of the tractor with loader attached and gives designations for the various measurements. The BX brochure does give the same measurements but does not have a diagram demonstrating them but much to the dismay of the naysayers it is in the operators manual on page 7 for the FEL. Yeppers, the BX has, when measure in exactly the SAME way--the SAME way---71.3 inches of max lift height vs 69.5 for the LA302 on a 7500. Soooo by doing some reserch and because I have a pile of old and new brochures and the FEL manual for the LA211 I can assure you that the measurements are taken in the same way with the loader mounted to the tractor and used in exactly the way it was intended to be used. Also, I have been told that the weight of the tractors including the BX are taken the same way, stripped and field ready.
It is not so much that I like the BX but instead just want to see the correct figures and capabilities of the tractors stated and not urban legend. Fact is the BX has a heavier mower deck than the B series (right here in brochure 9 guage vs 9.5), wider/lower more stabe stance, manuvers better in close quarters, can work the implements Kubota listed for it with ease etc equal to it's larger siblings--why would only the BX be different as if Kubota was trying to trick people? What good would that serve them? /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif .J
