This is the biggest I've moved to date and yes the front end
got a little light and I had another stone in the bucket for counter weight!
The weight box is from Kasco and is filled with lead and one big rock.

The little spruce off to the side in this picture was recently visited by Bucky. It's 16 feet from the house.

I pre-positioned the rock so that with one more flip it would land flat side on the boat. I strapped the boat to the flat side and pushed it over. Got lucky! This is the last one of the rocks I think my lawn mower can handle.
Just wondering how big of a rock I could move if I had a real tractor.

What I like about your pics Dave is that it is similar to the way I moved similarly large, maybe larger, rocks with my BX. Remember back, if you will, that I was told that the BX could not pull such rocks!!!!!! I used a skid also, what you guys call a boat, flipping them onto the "boat" with the FEL was a snap and pulling them even easier.
Yes, it is I, the high priest, none other that 3Crows, it seems my AOL was dumped when I had a glitch and I had to reload and now I cannot get back on as Trescrows--help Muhummed!
Today I spread approx 32 tons of aggregate mix building a road. Of course the dump truck was able to lay it out decently so I only had to smooth, contour, fill in spots, so I probably only handled about 10 tons of it in the FEL. J

I just read this thread for the first time and I am very close to purchasing a B7500 w/ 60"MMM could some explain to me the difference between the suspened MMM on a BX and the wheels on the B7500? Why might one type be more desireable? Is one type better at certain types of lawn conditions or is it as simple as they are just different designs and nothing more? How do you adjust the cut height on the wheel MMM? ARe the wheels always on the lawn?

Some might argue that the suspended deck type will be better if your ground is damp or soft, as there are no deck wheels carrying the weight of the deck. Other than that, I suspect there are arguments on both sides, and both might be correct. For me, I like the suspended deck style, as the rough clay I have can be tough on a deck that is on little wheels....the suspended deck is cussioned somewhat by the tractors wheels.

Can't answer your question about which is better, suspended or rolling decks. As far as changing the height on the rolling type decks;

1. Pull the circle clips off the two front caster wheels, pull the pins and change the height of each wheel, replace pins and clips.
2. Adjust the rear center wheel to any of 5 positions by pulling out a lever and locating it in the desired notch.
3. Remove the circle clip on the rear left deck wheel, remove the pin, change its height and replace the pin and circle clip.
4. Remove two bolts holding on the right rear deck wheel, reposition to any of three positions and reattach.

There is a legend telling you where each needs to be set at depending on what height you want to cut your lawn at. The wheels should always be in contact with the ground. This is definately not something you want to do often on the B series tractors. If changing the height often is important to you, I believe the BX is more geared toward that in that the mower height is controlled from the drivers seat.

Also, when I was a kid we got a CASE tractor with a suspended deck. Now I'm not sure if this was because it was suspended or not but we used to get all sorts of comments on how well this thing cut the lawn. It would look perfect and we did have some hills. We bought that thing is 1977 or so an it's still going strong...great machine.

And yes, my rolling type mower has put some small ruts in the dirt where the grass hasn't come in well enough yet. I have a new lawn and I think it may be more due to some of the backfill still being a bit soft.

You can get a 54 inch suspended on the 7500. The suspended 60 inch on the BX is adjustable from the seat. It does not have small wheels riding on the lawn rutting it up but instead uses the tractors wheels to support it. The height control knob is adjustable from the seat though for a large change in cut height you will have to readjust the guage wheels which are really antiscalp rollers. Optimaly they ride about 1/2 inch above the ground when properly adjusted but so I adjust for my minimum desired height and then I can pick the deck higher when I want for areas I do not wish to cut so close and the guage wheels just ride a tad higher--no problem. The BX deck also is deeper than the guage wheel type and provides a superior vacum which is one reason why we all rave about it's fine cut. It is also a slightly heavier guage steel (9 guage) but it is lighter to pickup because it does not have all the wheels and supports and etc the guage wheel types do. Also due to a moment of genious someone at Kubota had the thing actually does snap on and off and can be rolled easily out from under the tractor unlike the 7500 I had for a weekend which I had to put the tractor up on bricks to get the mower deck in and out. Also the BX wheels can be turned sideways to facilitate rolling it out and back in--the guage wheel type front wheels swivel but not the rear so you must drag it out. I imagine either type will do you proud but the BX mower is in fact easier to deal with, adjust and certainly performs well. good luck--it is a compromise so decide your priorities but I would say if a superior cut and mowing performance is your "thing" then you will be happier with the BX. J

I would only disagree with two points. I didn't find it necessary to lift the tractor up on anything to get the deck out although it was tight. Also, you don't have to drag it out with the rear center wheel on the ground. You are supposed to lower the rear left wheel all the way and turn it so the wheel is perpendicular to the tractor and raise the rear center wheels all the way. This way it will ride on the two front castors, which you also lower as far as possible, and the rear left wheel. It doesn't seem to be all that great of a design and with its additional 100 pounds of weight it is no easy task to roll it out.
