BX2200 or B7500HST

One other consideration I thought of on a suspended deck - it's the distance between the insides of the wheels on the tractor that governs scalping - not the width of the whole deck ... the whole tractor will ride up and over any hump that is broader than the distance between the insides of the tires.

That can be a big advantage.

Just to avoid a fight, I really like the 7500 and if it had not been for that mower deck I might have a 7500 instead of a BX. Mowing ability is very important to me but any new purchaser should sit down calmly and think about what they need and then try to fairly weight those needs/objectives and then decide which machine fits the requirements the closest. For some it will be the 7500 and others the BX depending on priorities. I also like the smaller size (not big--but small) of the BX which allows me to get it in real close and in corners. It does so well my Lawnboy has not been started in 2 years. I do like the 7500, if I get one will I be a traitor? Well, you guys can always banish me like they are trying to do on the Lawn and Garden forum (The My JD is Better Than Your Murray Club)--seems they do not like me and ya know what?!--they said y'all don't like me either! Oh well, such is life, a rose without thorns would just be a common daisy. J

We like you TresCrows. Don't be sad /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif.

However, /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif 9 vs 9.5 gauge isn't a big deal. The deck's shape and reinforcements are going to be more of a factor. In high school we built a tiny balsa bridge we could stand on. As to suspended vs ground engaging. I have no preference. My ground engager does an amazing job, hasn't dug any ruts in the lawn, and is easy to roll out the side of the tractor when I drop it (assuming I turn the pivotting wheels before I lower it). I have no idea what gauge balsa, I mean steel, it is.

Todd

ps) the 4wd does dig ruts in the lawn when I have a "senior moment" and forget to disengage it.

TresCrows,
I've got a B2410 with a MMM - the sort that rides on wheels - and I don't see the advantage of the suspended deck of the BX's. With my MMM I lower it till the wheels touch the gound, and then pull it up a shade. I think this gives me the best of both worlds, but I'm interested in your opinion.

By the way, I enjoy your spirited defense of everything BX, and I'm sorry I can't offer up anything more inflamatory. Will

Will.
when I figure out things I always go to the extreme.
What if your lawn was full of of 6 inch pot holes?
With a rolling deck the tiny 4-6 inch wheels would fall in every hole just like a walk behind mower and you get a very uneven cut.
With the suspension deck, the big tractor wheels barely notice the pot hole and the cut is smooth and not as iirregular as with a rolling deck.

Defence rests.

Thank you all for clearing up the 3pt issue on the BX.
I found another dealer that had both the BX & 7500 and
could compare the two. The arms on the 7500 could open
wider and were longer but I didn't see where the BX would
have a problem.

As for the first dealer, I think you were right about being
out of date on the info. He showed me a rear kubota blade
that he reversed the pins on. It could be an older tractor
w/o the upgraded arms.

Thanks for the info,
Michael

The issue of pot holes is an excellent point I hadn't
considered. We have gopher and badger holes in with the
trees that would gobble up the roller wheel. Anyone know
if the wheel would climb out or bend?

Something else to think about,
Michael
