BX2200 start problem

Interesting. On my BX24, the solenoid is energized during shut off. With the fuse blown, I could start and run but not shut off.

Yeah, I thought of that as well (plate cover) but the problem is I can't see how to cut the engine. Can you explain how you do it?

Hi Zoltan,

Yeah, it seems there are 2 ways these solenoid operate. They are either energized to shut off (like in your case) or to turn on or allow fuel flow (like in the case of, at least, the BX21 and BX2200)

To be fare, I do agree with Ray that the logical operating procedure should be energized to shut off. As he says, blowing a fuse while running in a tight situation could be very problematic. But I guess the Kubota guys thought otherwise for certain models.
And, from what I can read on various forums, that was a bad choice as there seem to be quite a few problems with this system.

I know I've watched it on shutdown and the solenoid relaxes after the 15 second kill cycle. Could it be possible that's one of the changes between the BX2200 and BX2230?

My "fix" was to attach a wire to the solenoid arm, run the other end of the wire out from behind the cover, put a washer on that end of the wire and pull on it for a couple of seconds to shut off the engine.

Thanks Gerry for your 'fix', but in the case of the BX220, I need to keep the solenoid arm pulled during operation. To stop the engine, I need to release it. Meaning, I need to push on the fuel shut off arm to stop the fuel flow. Not the opposite.

Very interesting, mine is a BX1800, 2002 version; perhaps yours is newer and the solenoid works in the opposite fashion.

I checked mine while I started it this afternoon. It doesn't wiggle until you turn it off and then it activates for the 15 seconds like I said earlier. So, yes, it would appear that the 2200 and 2230 have some differences.

At least we've established that those 2 models have opposite start/stop operations.
