Kobota BX2200
I have a new BX2200. When it arrived I checked the Transmission Fluid level with the engine off. There was not enough in the system to reach the bottom of the Dipstick (the FEL would operate). I slowly added Kobota UDT and wound up having to put in 3/4 gal. Now the fluid registers above the "full" mark.

Questions: What kind of damage could delivering my BX so low on UDT have caused? The engine registered 1/2 hour. Should I be concerned?

Should I drain some UDT to get the level precisely between the indicators? Can too much UDT damage the transmission?

Do I have to use Kobota UDT? Are there other approved fluids?

Frank,

I was advised that when you check the hydraulic fluid, that all the implements (FEL & 3PH, etc.) need to be "down" and "at rest". I also noticed at one point (B7500) that I had less fluid, but there weren't any leaks. Dropped the 3PH, and the fluid level was normal.

I'd probably not mix hydraulic fluid types. But I really don't "know"... /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

Yes, Frak what glueguy said is exactly true and in addition to that for the short time you used in NO--I repeat NO damage would have occurred. It seems some tractors are going out shy on UDT due to installation of the FEL which of course takes up some of the volume. Do not worry. J

There is an apparent misprint in the BX manual. I had the same problem as you when I took delivery. Also, I had to add more UDT than called for @ the 50 hr. service to get a good level.

You should not exceed the high level indicator on your dipstick.

If you do not use Kubota Super UDT, you may a problem on any warranty issues.

Same thing hpaapened to a lot of us BX2200 owners. Mine didn't even have the loader and it was still low. Its easy to drain a bit. I would if I were you. As for the damage potential. I would guess Trescrow is absolutly right. I would still worry (cause thats the way I am). But the worry is probably unwarranted. The 1/2 hour was probably all idle time anyway.

Thank you for your response. I trully appreciate it.

My dealer gave me a gallon of standard UDT and reported that this is all they use, rather than the Super UDT called for in the manual. Does this sound right to you?

He also said that there is no need to lower the level. I am going to anyway. He is sending out his top mechanic to help me out with all my other little troubles.

Thanks again.

Frank, I've talked to two different dealers and neither one even stocks the Super UDT. They only order it if a customer specifically wants it.
