BX2200 Vs B7500: The Age Old Question

   / BX2200 Vs B7500: The Age Old Question #41
Well, I guess if we don't hear back with some more details I may have to agree. I guess I don't tend to think that someone would try to raise feathers just for fun. I saw that when he made the post he only had 14 posts and, like me when first signed on, had no idea about the type of reactions that would come from my innocent comments about the BX. I do think the lawnmower comment is unfair, but my first impression and the one I still have is that this tractor is squarely aimed at the people who are ready to make a jump up to a GT type tractor from a large garden tractor. This I say concerning feel and layout. I also believe that some things are probably built a little heavier on the B7500 to handle the difference in the weights it can handle, though it may be a small difference. I also believe that the B7500 has a greater hydro volume which will enable it to operate some implements more efficiently and speed up the work. I've seen many times here on the forum that the only difference between different tractors is how fast they can get the job done. I believe this is important or we might all just concede that our tractors are no different than a shovel. It just may not be important to you. I also believe that a mechanic, even a bad mechanic, can differentiate in a side by side comparison of how things are put together.(still taking into account that this may have been an attempt to get people going) Lastly, I do think the B7500 is a step up in some points and a totally different step in others. Remember, the $1500 price difference isn't going to get you all that much. I believe it gets you the added mechanics of the higher stance, Larger tires/wheels, Added hydro capacity, A clutch(good..bad..?) and the ability to use larger implements in some cases. I think in the end I am more bothered by the tone of some when we get into these discussions. Healthy debate is good but when it gets a little cutting I think it serves nothing constructive.

Hi Patrick & everyone...

I hope Mr. Fixit will stop by and give some details of his experience with all the tractors in general...

I wanted to email him and invite him back {no valid email address} and it appears from his "bio", he stops by about every month or so... it may be a bit of time...

Woodstock, some guys are just not going to let us have our fun--whatever! You see there is a problem with the BX--it is that it disproves the Male "bigger is always better" mindset that is so ingrained in all of us Tim Toolmen. When the Kubota comes out with a smaller unit then we can pick on them /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif .
I could almost be insulted by one response in that it appears it is being said that neither I nor you or any other BX purchaser can tell the difference between quality and durability and cheap and junk. The main difference and reason for slightly higher cost on the 7500 is the slightly larger engine, increased hydrualic output, and larger (more expensive) tires and wheels. The frame and overall build quality of the BX is certainly up to task and equal to any other small Kubota. In fact, might the BX be actually stiffer torsionally since it does not require that added on stiffner bar for the FEL like the other B series--oops I guess Kubotas under-designed those and had to add that bar.
I think a GT and a Garden tractor are one and the same, the BX is a subcompact--that is why it lumbers over the largest GT's like the JD455 which is a tractor styled lawnmower.
I suppose if I were to start pointing out some of the less than steller points of various Kubotas which are far from perfect I could really stir a hornets nest. It seems in looking through a bit of research here that numerous Kubota tractors have had serious problems--look for yourself--none of them were BX's. Course in time all things are equal--or should I say--a Kubota is a Kubota--for better or worse.
Well, got to run, the deer are eating my trees and I must go pop them in the rear with my pellet rifle. Such fun. Till next time be safe. J, BX high priest

Jeff,

I just re-read the entire thread. Most responses were thoughtful and informed -- or humorous asides. You are correct in saying 'Healthy debate is good but when it gets a little cutting I think it serves nothing constructive.'

That is exactly how I construed the "BX is a lawnmower" remark. It was cutting (albeit dull) -- and it served nothing constructive.

Yes, I understand that. I was more referring to the "just wasting space on the server" comment though it may not have been meant the way I took it. As far as the GT thing Trescrows, I honestly never made the connection between GT and garden tractor...I am a car guy and I used the GT as in Grand Tourismo (spelling?) meaning something more and higher performance.

I'm sorry, making the jump from what was said in this thread to this is ridiculous.

Jeff et al, cutting remarks go both ways. I am sorry you misunderstood and I was really not trying to get you or the Kubota person upset. I do not want a flame war and I figured you did not mean to ignite one--my apology to you if I got you upset. I guess perhaps a lot of guys do not understand that when they run the BX down relentlessly--lawnmower--not built like a Kubota--lesser quality etc they are in effect saying that everyone who bought one is--well--you get the drift.
Anyways, let's not go off the deep end over something like this. I suppose if there is a real issue with the BX then I certainly would like to know about it but just want something concrete to go with it and a positive solution also would be helpful.
I popped one buck in the rear. He scurried off but I am afraid I may eventually have to dispatch him as much as I do not want to. He is tearing my little pine trees up!! J

I certainly understand what you're saying about feeling that the BX is always being cut down. On the other side, I always feel like I am being told that I wasted my money on the B7500 and that my decision was solely based on some male ego thing so I guess I too am a little quick to get my feathers up. Okay, maybe a little of the ego thing./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
