Your observation really has no relevance. A manufacturer can put his engine under your seat if he wants, unless there is a published specification regarding orientation, position, or displacement that defines a product class.

By the way, if the BX uses standard 3PH implements, which it does, then the rotation of the transmission must be similar to other "tractors". As "garden mowers" do not run 3PH implements, we dont know how they rotate.

Although I do not agree with Gunfighter's statement
that the BX is a garden tractor, he is correct about the drive shaft going to the transmission on the BX does rotate counterclock wise. /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif

Dave,

My comment was that how the shaft rotates has no practical relevance, and that he cannot make the inference that because of the rotation it must belong to a class of tools.

Note that while the old VW bug had a rear engine, nobody ever called it a sports car.

Oh baloney, the BX does not use the transmission from a lawn tractor, that is an absolutely rediculous statement actually not even worth countering so I will not bother.
So when the next B series is released and they all have backward engines (which could happen) will they also have lawn tractor transmissions? Please, don't answer, it is not needed.
This has been discussed before and the BX is not the first tractor to use the reverse flow radiator/engine arrangement. J

I agree with the others. The BX engine is mounted reverse for compactness reasons. The important thing is which direction do the PTO's run, and that is the same for the BX and all the B series.

The other important thing is the ground clearance, and that the BX is a little closer to the ground, which can make for some compromises with (some) 3PH-mounted implements.

Finally, the other important difference is the difference in torque. A .9 liter engine produces about 90% of the torque of a 1 liter engine (all other things being equal). Even though the BX engine is "rated" as having higher HP, if you compare the engine torque/HP curves, you will see that it's not "really" true.

(one more finally)... the BX mowing setup is no doubt superior to the B7500. The main deciding factor (for BX vs B7500) is the importance of mowing. If (finish) mowing is very important; advantage BX. If "other stuff" is more important; advantage B7500.

Tres, you are killin' me with some of these shots. this is just as hard as you get in the JD exchanges you get into sometimes. Good info tossed around between and within the exchanges though and really enjoyable. Also I could have sworn my GT225 and my old STX38 both turned clockwise and they were little Garden Tractors .
