BX2230 can\'t pull

I tried to drag my old septic tank on a piece of plywood across the level lawn to the field and found the weight to be overwhelming to the BX2230. I was kind of surprised. It has only 12 hours on it and perhaps it isn' broken in yet. I really have no idea what the tank weighs. I have included a shot for estimates. Am I expecting too much?

Appears to me the ground is REAL soft. That chunk of concrete appears to be an ANCHOR, so I'm not surprised you can't pull it.

Any chance you can get one end in your FEL and try to pull it backwards? I know the FEL won't lift that, completely, but if you can curl one end up a little, it would put weight on the front tires and you might be able to drag it.

My guess is your tires lost traction when trying to pull on the plywood, right?

Let us know how you get it moved please.

OK, just to get the obvious questions out of the way, are you attempting this move Low range? And your brake is off?

OK. The tires never lost traction, just won't pull. I also haven't opened it up (throttle) because it's new. I have applied *significant* throttle. I rolled it onto the plywood from one side with the fell, which was a slight downgrade. The direction I attempted to pull was level and, 44trxfun, it was in low range and 4-wheel drive with the brake off /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif.

In retrospect, I went out and bought a 12lb sledge hammer. I knocked off on low side and hand bombed it into the fel. It's heavy. I managed to stand it on end with the fel and then pushed it over to attack from the bottom. When my neighbor and I tried to lift a long end with the fell yesterday to get a chain under, she wouldn't lift or curl. He seemed to think it may even weigh 4000lbs /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gifat the max.

I think I will agree with RonR that the ground may be a little wet. No standing water to the eye but the soil beneath is damp. In the back of the yard it is a little lower and always takes longer to dry. The green grass will mud track if I drive over it with the turf tires, now. In that sense, it may be a little 'sticky', but I never lost traction. Long and the short of the task, appears to be a sledge hammer.

You may already know this, but the harder yu push on the go pedal the less power you have to the ground. Hydrostatic transmission is not like a car where the more you push on the pedal the more power you have.

Try just pushing the pedal just a little bit and see if it will drag it slowly. When I am going up a steep hill with a load and the engine loses RPM's I have to back off the pedal until the engine RPM comes back up and it will go right up the hill.

You will know you are doing all you can do when the tractor's wheels start spinning on dry ground, my Bx2230, when over loaded, will dig four holes in dry ground when in low range and four wheel drive....

I would get some round sturdy objects, (pipes, logs, etc), get one or more of them under the front, lift with the BX, and keep placing them underneath until you can get enough of them under it for it to roll. Then as you see some free from behind, place them under the front again.
I don't think even a big 4 wheel drive truck would pull that thing as it sits.
Now burying it is another story, I think you'll do just fine, just make darned sure your hole is deep enough before you dump that beast in it, or you'll have another date with the sledgehammer.
