Plastic is definitely the norm in tractors now. JD has gone to plastic on their larger cuts which means we can expect to see the others follow suit now.
I don't necessarily think going with plastic is a bad thing per-se, even tho I'm partial to metal, but plastic is all over just about every brand and type of auto/truck and even semi's now. Problem as I see it is that Kubota rushed the 1st generation
BX2350's/
BX24's out too soon with what appears to be inferior structural plastic parts. The good news is that Kubota knows this and has effected a remedy. Good for Kubota!
I also think that if any of the major tractor manufacturers AREN'T visiting forums like this that they are not practicing good business sense and could very well find themselves behind those that are.......
Tis better to face up to it now, bite the bullet and do it right now (Kubota) then let it fester to where it hurts your (Kubota) hard earned good reputation in this industry.
Once the "word" is put out there it's mighty hard to overcome....
As for the curved arms, that too is the way all the bigboys are going which also includes large and small commercial machines. It does improve depth and reach and also the machines front site lines. There was a comparison done pitting two machines of similar size against each other and in all cases the machine with the curved hood/FEL arms had a much better view up front. The fellow even had one of his children sitting at a specified distance out in front of both machines and in the case of the std straight hood/FEL she wasn't even visable but was very visable when sitting in front of the machine with the curved hood/FEL at teh same distance. The results were THAT conclusive!
I don't recall the poster or thread but a search may bring it back up, I recommend everyone seeing it that has questions re. curved vs straight..
I'm done rambling for now, gotta get back at it...
