After a normal working afternoon, returned to the garage and the key will not kill the engine. It continues to run with the key in the off position. I have checked wires, connectors, pulled the seat relay, tried to engage the mower and got off the seat, nothing works!
Any ideas on how to turn it off? It is still running and I don't know what to do.
Thanks

Pull the wire connector apart at the fuel pump.

Might not be the best solution, but I know it will work.

It's located in the fuel line under the deck area.

Then disconnect the battery and get better help than mine.

I had that problem on my L4200. It was something to do with the fuses. I pulled the fuses and the cleaned the fuse sockets and then it turned of with the key.

Worth a shot.

If you leave it in gear it should die after you get off the seat.
Another thing to try is disconnect the battery. Not sure is the alternator will keep it running or not.

Running it out of fuel is the last thing you want to do.

You've got a blown fuse. I believe it's the 20amp fuse that also fuses the voltage that goes back to the connector under the seat.

Good luck

You can also and maybe the best is to turn the fuel off at the fuel filter.

Stall the tractor.

I assume there is a fuel shut off solenoid. You should be able to manually operate to shut off the fuel. Had to do that with my truck once.

Considering he wrote this post I am fairly certain the engine will not kill if he gets off the seat. I doubt he carrys a laptop on the tractor! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

On the top of my BX2230 on the injection pump there is a solenoid ,I think attached to a spring or lever. If you pull on that and hold for a few seconds it is the stop lever for the pump. If you notice when you turn off the BX tractors you here a click a few seconds after tuning the engine off it is the timed relay turning off. when you turn a BX off it sends power to a timed relay that turns on the solenoid to shut off the engine.....no power no turn off, should of been on a seperate fuse than the same one people are using for the lights and overloading.

Guess you'll just have to work through the night, eh?/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

My runs a LONG time on a tank of fuel, so you might get caught up on your tractorin'.

Seriously, hope you can get it off.

I took a break, had a nice steak dinner, and went back with all of your suggestions. There was a 15 amp blown fuse labeled as "solenoid" in the fuse block. I replaced the fuse but the engine continued to run. I checked the fuse and it was blown again. Now we're getting somewhere.
Traced the harness area to the front left corner of the engine where it splits off for the headlights. A line had dropped down onto the muffler, melted, and had a short against the muffler. This must be the wire to the fuel solenoid. I isolated the short, replaced the fuse, and now she is sitting quietly til tomorrow morning.
Thanks to all of you for the helpful advice. The forum is not only helpful, but came to the rescue in a time crunch! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Just a little tidbit about that solenoid on the BX2230 that makes that tick sound like it is disengaging once you shut the tractor off. The BX23 does not have that solenoid. The engine in the BX23 is not the same model number as the BX2230. My buudy just traded his BX2200 in on a BX23, he was thinking that his tractor would make that solenoid noise once he shut the tractor off but it didn't. We looked at the model numbers and they are different??? Not sure what's up there, but they don't even take the same oil filters.

Glad to hear a fix was made. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

To stall the tractor one may/can apply a sudden load at idle.

Cutting off the air supply will also stop the engine.

Glad to hear you found the problem and were able to fix it.

I had a similar experience a while ago. A stick found its way up under the engine cowling and pulled the main 50amp fuse loose from its holder. The tractor would not shut off and I ended up having to stall it out. This particular fuse was not in the fuse block; it was inline with the wiring harness. A little electrical tape wrapped around the fuse and holder has so far prevented the problem from happening again.

Had trouble at the dealer getting the oil filter, first time they gave the wrong one, they have changed to a newer engine on some of the BX2230 tractors to a newer one and it also does not have the same location for the block heater, I think you have to take out a freeze plug now.

To my knowledge, which can be questionable at best /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif all BX's w/the D905-E-BX engine have the same fuel shutdown solenoid that kicks out (clicks) about 10 secs after ****down and/or whenever the ignition is turned on then off.

Kubota did make some changes in the D905-E-BX engine between the BX22/2200 and BX23/2350 but I believe the fuel shutoff solenoid has the same part number.

I do not hear a click on my BX23.
There is a second lever on the throttle body assembly. It is spring loaded and just to the right of the throttle blade lever. If you move this lever while the tractor is running, the engine will slow. Is this a safe way to "kill" stall the engine or can this do some type of harm? What does this do?

You have a blown fuse. This happened to me last winter.
