BX2360 Throttle Slows While Mowing

For just the past couple of weeks I've noticed that the throttle on my BX2360 will slow and I have to pull the handle back to WOT. Is there a mechanical linkage that I can adjust in the engine compartment that will fix this? Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

They have a governor that should keep the engine speed the same. The governor only does so much though. If you have a 60" deck and are mowing pretty thick grass, it will work the engine pretty good. They are also designed to be run at WOT when mowing.

Yes there should be some form of mechanical friction on the throttle linkage. I looked through the service manual and did not find a reference on where it is or how to adjust it. On my Branson it is a nylon washer and locknut on a pivot point.

If memory serves me right there is a nut and locknut on the throttle lever to adjust the tension.If they get loose the throttle will back off from vibration.I had the same problem with my previous BX2360.Simple fix,you just need two open ended wrenches.

Be careful not to over tight these two nuts. The threads on the throttle lever will strip and break. I broke mine without much pressure.

Correct...washer(s), nut, jamb nut. Jamb doesn't need to be all that tight. May need to adjust couple times to get right...tightening jamb also tightens nut some.

That did it -- tightened the tension on the jam nut and then locked it down with the other nut. Works perfect. Thanks to all. It's a lot easier to mow without having to hold onto the throttle constantly! :thumbsup:
