Buying Advice BX2360 vs B2620

Volfandt - actually I do have check chains. It has made it better, but still a tractor with position control instead of a 1/4" valve would be better for using a rotary mower.

More to the point, people new to tractors like I was, assume the answer is get a bush hog/brush hog/rotary mower. That may or may not be the answer depending on your needs. A rotary mower is big, sticks way behind the tractor creating big turns and a tail wagging the dog fealing and can throw things it hits a long way which can be hazordous to animals, people and anything else. If she was already mowing it with a ZTR, I would assume it is pretty under control and it is not a matter of reclaiming a lot of area that is currently brush. So a RFM may be a better answer than a rotary mower. I have also read threads from "horse people" that they quit using a rotary mower and went to the RFM because it was less likely to leave clumps of cut grass that caused digestion problems for the horses.

I need my rotary mower because I am sometimes behind on the mowing and it is too tall to cut with the MMM and I have areas to reclaim from the brush and sometimes find a rock or two, but when I am mowing on a pretty frequent basis and am not going into the brush, I find using the MMM a lot more pleasant.

Thanks for all the good advice and very helpful links and posts. Price was more driving my decision than anything else, but Barlow's was able to resolve that issue, so I am going with the B2620. My reasons after reading all the helpful posts - my main use for a new tractor was not as a finishing mower, I have the ztr for that, I needed something bigger for the stuff the ztr couldn't handle and also why I am getting the rotary cutter - my pasture sometimes gets out of control and I have lots of areas with thick weeds, the stalky kind - briars and such. Hoping with the tractor I can keep it in better shape and do some erosion control and landscaping projects.

So I went with the 2620 over the 2320 simply because getting more power was worth the little extra. The 2620 is about as big as I can go and still use in the barn.

I will say, the BX was appealling as far as stability and nimbleness in tight areas and on the slopes.

Hopefully this thread wil be helpful to others who have to make the same decision. Thanks, again.

You'll love that B2620. That's what I have and so far, its a great machine.

I'll second that. You actually get a little more clearance and capacity in addition to the HP. In contrast, going the next step only gets you the HP increase. That is what makes the B2620 the sweet spot.

One thing about the higher clearance. The briars and sprouts could be a problem on a sub compact. Also, when working dirt, every bit of clearance makes a difference when you hit that wet spot and your wheels start to dig in. The B2620 is going to be ideal for both. Part of my own reasoning for getting a tractor was a bad experiance with a rented bobcat loader and my doughy clay soil.

I just sold my 2010 BX25 to upgrade to the B2620. I had 1100 hrs. on my BX and it was a great machine, but I did wipe out the fan not long after I got it.I do a lot of brush removal and a stick found it's way into the HST fan. If you go with the BX, it might be wise to order a set of BroTec skid plates for underneath.I ordered mine after I broke the fan and never had any problems since. I never had any problems at all with my BX,except for the lower clearance when I went into the woods.
