Kubota BX2380
Well now first impressions...

1. Easier climb on/off than my larger B2920 and the loader control is out of the way now so no more walking around the other side of the tractor all the time.

2. Engine runs smoother than my B2920 also quieter.

3. Captains seat is glorious, I was shocked how much heavier it was when I leaned it forward vs my B2920 swivel backhoe seat. Dealer said those seats are $650 if you want one for an older tractor, ouch!

4. I purchased the cutting edge for the bucket that added a lot of rigidity its got to be 3/8 inch thick. The B2920 bucket has thicker gauge sidewalls, the BX2380 is not as stout.

5. The ROPS fit under my garage door, barely maybe 1/2 inch to spare. But that's awesome, I can't tell you how annoying it was to have to climb off the tractor to fold the B2920 ROPS down every time I was ready to put the tractor away, or to fold it upright when starting work. OR how many times I smacked my skull on it when it was folded down.

Here picks galore!

1. They have moved the loader hydraulic lines so that they don't rub on the hood anymore, that wore the paint off my B2920 hood.

2. Not sure how I feel about no longer having a foot clutch, I won't be able to feather the implements on like I used to or slam in the clutch when a tiller jams or I hit something with the mower. I'll have to work out a new panic situation PTO disengage procedure. Dealer said foot clutch was done away with on all tractors now until you get up to the L series.

3. The standard deck on these is not drive over, to remove I'll have to turn the wheels sideways and roll it out. But my drive over B2920 deck was a hassle in other ways so a wash I guess. Its going to mostly stay on the tractor anyway vs before I was using the B2920 to do a lot of stump digging and work where I was constantly having to take the mower deck, FEL, and Backhoe on/off.

4. So far I live the turf tires, tractor seems quite a bit lighter than my B2920 which it had all the extra steel that comes with a backhoe install on those and filled R4 tires.

We have some shockingly decent weather for early Feb I'll probably mow with it tomorrow!

D2B,
What a beautiful piece of equipment! Let us know how you like the placement of the Joy Stick for the FEL?

I have a BX2370 and it’s on the “Dashboard” I’m curious how it is way back by your hip!

Nice Machine!!
Cheers,
BN

That is a nice looking unit. The seat looks very comfortable also. Looks like a very well thought out compact machine. Congratulations.

Those are nice tractors. I wonder if they made changes to the engine or mounts on this newest model? My friend has a 70 series and I find the motor not nearly as smooth or quiet as my B2620.

I liked having a clutch pedal too. But I end up using my hand when I need the steering brakes, LOL.

I thought all the BX's were drive over decks??

One of the first things I noticed was how smooth the BX2380 engine runs vs my B2920. It does shudder significantly when you shut it off. Yeah same here I miss the PTO clutch, my dealer said Kubota has or will eliminate the PTO clutch on models above the BX up to the L I think so its not or won't be just the BX.

Current BX have either a drive over deck or non drive over you slide under the tractor from the side. I had a drive over on my B2920, it really didn't save that much time. You still had to hop off the tractor, go grab the ramps, then go put the ramps away again. Wrestling into position is the same either way. The BX drive over which is new is kind of a joke and you give up clearance when you are not mowing because the ramps do not remove.

I removed and replaced the deck for the first time last weekend. It was a pain, you have to do things in the proper order and there was a couple of gotchas. Unlike my B2920 deck where the lift arms came straight down over the mounts on this BX deck you have to lower the lift arms, then slide the deck forward into them kind of a retarded design since the wheels are still turned sideways. Also the lift arms did not lower of their own weight that threw me for a bit I'm like what's hung up here. I had to grab them and pull them down. Didn't take much effort just a heads scratcher. And like the B2920 trying to reach up/back there to connect the pto shaft was a lay down twisting blind pretzel body maneuver.

I like the FEL stick position a lot actually, and its much shorter than the old one on my B2920. I also like the easy on/off 4 line FEL hydraulic connector gadget BUT wow like so many things on a tractor even that requires a technique that you have to learn. Once you drop the fell on the floor you must then back the tractor up a certain distance away from the FEL before you can disconnect that 4 line block. Last time I disconnected the FEL I backed up, shut the tractor off, wiggled the FEL stick, nope didn't back up far enough, start the tractor back up, repeat, still not enough, do it a third time so you get it. I didn't want to back up too far and yank on the lines. I'll get it down to a single try next time but this is very much like my B2920 where there were tricks to installing/removing all the implements you had to follow to avoid getting into a wrestling match with the thing.

The BX engines ALL rock n' roll. They are tached up significantly higher than the B-series due to the single hydro pump. The B's have dual pumps and can do anything at an idle. A BX at an idle barely moves the hydraulics or the tractor. Imagine it at the low idle like a B.

If you have the BX drive over deck, you are doing something way wrong. The B drive over is in NOW WAY like the BX. The B drive over ONLY gets your tractor straddling the deck, and not aligned properly. I had that deck on my B2620.

I've used my BX drive over several times, and it is too easy. You must have something wrong because the lift arms should drop easily. Not sure if the PTO valve affects the speed of the mower drop like the B series, but it's worth a try. If you keep your tires in the proper place as you drive over, the PTO slips right on the gearbox as designed. Also, the lift arms slip right into place. There is absolutely no jockeying lift arms or the deck. Practice. It's really too easy.

The ramps come entirely off real easy. Mine only go on when I take the deck on or off. I don't need them ratting and marring the deck paint. It's a simple pull of a pin with a clevis pin, and slide the ramp back and lift.

The only gripes I have are the cost for the drive over option, the fact you need a rubber mat on concrete so the deck doesn't slide, and if you don't keep the bare driveshaft end that goes into the auto-align gearbox greased, it will be a bear to remove at seasons end.

Watch the you-tube videos for on/off. It's not the B drive over, nor is it intended to B.

Robert I do NOT have the BX drive over deck. Maybe the lift arms will loosen up with use, the 3pt drops right down no problem yet the deck arms are still suspended in the up position hence my head scratching. When I reached up and pulled them down it didn't take much effort.

My deck will remain on 95% of the time so R&R is not a big deal for me. Have you purchased the Oregon Gator G6 blades yet? I mowed with them Monday and they cut really nice.

congrats, I see you don't have the Skid-steer QA bucket option, probably a good move given the significant loss of performance with that feature. good luck....
