Don’t understand your logic... tongue weight is far less on any reasonably small to large home or farm trailer. If a BX can lift almost 1000 pounds way out front, it can surely handle the weight just in front of the axle. Also with a hitch in the front you’re going forward not reverse except when first hooking it up.

I don't get where the 1000lbs up front? My BX2200 LA210 can only lift ~450 lbs and that is pushing it.

All I know, is that trailer I have attached in the picture is roughly 200 lbs unloaded at the tongue. Even on the back of the tractor unloaded it has pushed me. The trailer weighs about 2,000 lbs unloaded.

So I'd never want to try attempting to ever move it with the loader or the front in fear of loss of control or worse - a tweaked loader or front end.

I suppose the front option only for moving light garden trailers?

I guess it's up to your own personal needs and your own comfort level. I moved a 25 foot Haulmark enclosed trailer (empty) and like I said - there were initially some scary moments. But I learned from them and I would have no fears moving the same trailer with a BX again - going slow and not taking chances if the terrain was wrong. I have also moved my 16 foot Big Tex car hauler and my 5 x 10 utility trailer and a couple of boat trailers into and out of some pretty tight spots. Here's another use for the bucket hitch. I lifted my 5 x 10 up in the air to do some touch up work on the underside that I couldn't have reached otherwise. I did block the wheels, lock the loader and put a couple of satey braces under the tongue while working under it.

From my experience, there are times when putting a trailer into tight places is way easier hooked to the front end. When hooked to the front end loader you can almost jacknife the trailer and stick it in very tight places. Also there are times when you may want to move a trailer out of the way without removing a 3 point attachment. I can be raking an area and move a trailer, rake where the trailer was and then put it back without getting off the tractor. That has come in handy many times Of course you need to be aware of the stresses and not over do things.

Well said GRTkub. Handy...and not over do things. I do not see any need to cringe regarding this handy (in many cases indispensable) method for moving trailers and stashing them. There are always ways for clumsy people to do silly things and you really cannot prevent disasters that those people will find a way to accomplish.

Here is a spot where I stash a 14ft Stage Coach trailer that cannot be done with a pickup (unless you take all day, cut and try, and like to repair siding.) Not easily seen in the pic is a wood pile close to the right side of the trailer. It is being parked between a wood pile and garage.

I use my BX2370 to move three trailers, the largest one being a boat trailer--about 20' long, 1800 lbs when the boat is on it. I use the rear three point hitch, and have one of the gizmos illustrated by a previous poster. There are two problems: (1) Visibility; I am comfortable using mirrors when backing and miss them on the BX, and (2) the turnbuckles make the hitch sway back and forth which can make for interesting backing maneuvers. So, I installed a set of Mark Hodge's solid/adjustable stabilizer bars. Huge difference, and well worth the $180. Mark is very pleasant to do business with. Stabilworks Downside is there is a 3-4 month lead time to get a set. No, the trailer isn't as maneuverable as it would be mounted on the front, but the BX easily handles the weight mounted on the rear.

Maybe I was thinking about breakout force but still the specs for my loader lift is 518 pounds and I have no doubt mine can lift more. My point was there are very few trailers that have tongue weight that equals that...

You should have no problem with the lift capacity on your BX. Go slow and easy. Remember to have rear ballast.

I have a 2 inch receiver hitch welded onto my BX25 FEL bucket as well, and I move trailers around all the time. The biggest one is my boat trailer with a 22 1/2 foot pontoon boat on it. The only thing that you have to watch out for, is when you turn going up a hill, pushing a heavy trailer. Then, the lack of tongue weight generally just pushes the front wheels of the tractor to one side if you are on the gravel. Other than that, no problem, and the big advantage of the front mounted hitch is that you can precisely maneuver trailers into very tight spots that you could not do with your pick up.

Agreed. Much more maneuverable on the front, but that is too much trailer and not enough tractor, especially on the FEL.
