Not sure if its normal, but the 4x4 feels clunky when turning, even when i turn just a little bit. Even worst when the FEL is full of dirt. I now have about 17 hours and I have been using the 4x4 on the dirt. Its almost like a ring and pinion not messing properly. I understand when you make sharp turns that all the wheels may turn up a little dirt/grass, but not sure about the unsmoothness. I have used the 4x4 before and never felt this so thats why i am curious. Anyone else feel this?

I think you might want to get that checked out under warranty. My BX never did that. Are the fluid levels OK?

Me and several others have posted the front axle was WAY low on fluid when new. So much for dealer PDI. If run low long enough there could be damage.
Mine turns smoothly.

If it is still within warranty period, definitely get your dealer to check it.

Definatly get it checked. I can't even tell when mine is in 4x4 or 2wd, its very smooth

Well I just checked the front axle oil and no fluid reads on the dip stick. I shined a flash light in there and there is fluid, but way low.

What do you guys think i should do? Add fluid and hope for the best or just bring it back to the dealer. I checked the manual and its not something i should be checking before every use. It says to check it at the 300 hour mark. I have checked everything the manual said to do, but would never of thought of the front axle coming from the dealer low. I only have 17 hours on it. If I do say somethig to the dealer would i be at fault for not checking it? I dont want to say the wrong thing?

My 4wd is smooth and I cant really tell between 2wd and 4wd under normal operation unless I look at the position of the lever.

I however have not checked my axle fluids so I definately need to do this. I have not noticed this dipstick before.

If it were me (an it may be after I check), I would request the dealer take another shot at proper pre delivery setup and send someone out to do a check of all fluid levels, top off and absolutely document the problem. I would even send them a certified letter to document the situation. If the axle ever goes out prematurely you will have record that they may have contributed to the cause and they may be more willing to work with you on repairs and parts cost.

I called the dealer and they said they are gonna have a guy swing buy and check things out. So i guess i'll see what they say....

Oh, and i only have 14 hours...

I've heard it is normal for the dealer to fill it, and then have it read low after a few hours use. I would contact the dealer for sure first. More than likely, they will send somone out to put in more UDT, but make sure it is doccumented so that if you have any problems down the road the warranty will cover it. I just have a few <10 hours on my B2620, and I need to check it since the dealer did advise me to after a few hours of use.

(posted at the same time I guess, and I see the dealer read my mind! :D )

Just went out and checked my new BX and it was low. added almost 2 quarts. Thanks for bringing up this thread.

I also just went out and checked my new BX24 and added 1 quart. The SUDT wasn't even registering on the dipstick. I only have 38 hours on the tractor in 6 weeks of owning it. I hope I wasn't too low on fluid that may have messed something up. Maybe the manual needs to be changed to add this as a daily check? Luckily for me, this great forum taught me something else I didn't know about my tractor.

ok guys, If you can do me a favor and try out your 4x4 and see if you can feel what I feel. The service tech came and was very nice, but he said that feeling i was experiencing was normal. He DID feel it though, but i had to run him through it for him to tell. Otherwise he, or someone else wouldnt notice it. I notice it more when there is weight in the FEL, so I had the load full of dirt when the guy showed up. I know I only have 14 hours on it and i dont have a lot of time behind the wheel, buti noticed this was because i have never felt this before.

Thanks for everyones replys

If you are using 4WD in a tractor or a Truck, trying to turn on a surface that doesn't have any ability for slip the front end will bind up and chatter or bounce to create slippage. Something has to be able to give. The sharper the turn and the heavier the load on the loader the more amplified the effect.

If you were on concrete this would be at its worst. loose sand, mud, or snow you might not feel anything. If this is the reason for this noise or feeling, 4WD is not needed and should be disabled.

as said earlier this is on dirt and I only use 4x4 when needed. Even when using a truck in 4x4 and making a sharp turn I never herd chattering! I heard the wheels breaking loose and feel every this hard to turn, but still smooth. The service guy said it was the like a posi unit switch the power from wheel to wheel.

Good excuse except the BX24 doesn't have any posi traction type components in the front axle-:(

I agree with others- I can't even tell when mine is in 4x4, its that smooth.

Go to the dealer and drive another one...if doesn't do it then ask them to explain THAT:cool:

This is probably one of the most important bit of information I've gleaned from this Forum. Good stuff.
Thanks to all

This weekend I am planing on using the BX at my fathers, so Since itll be on the trailer I will try to swing by the dealer on monday with it and try another one and compare. The thing is i NEVER noticed it before. It may be normal, but i just dont remember it feeling that way. I remember it allways being smooth all the time. This is how i noticed it. I drove into a pile of dirt wanting to scoop it up and the rear tire spun, so i put it in 4x4 and drove into it. Then when backing up and turning is when the first time i notcied it. I have done this same exact thing before and never noticed it.
