BX24 First Stump Removed

I have had it a week and I removed a 42 inch stump. This stump was all that remained after a tree fell and the tree company wanted $1,500 to remove it all. It was about 3 foot tall. (Tree fell in a storm and I was able to handle the tree with my Stihl chainsaw but the stump was another matter). By reading some posts here I followed the technique of digging about 3 feet away from the stump all around and then going in closer and digging some more. It took about 3 hours of digging and then about an hour of levelling after burying the stump in the hole I dug.

Awesome way to save 1500 bucks, take that off the total of the tractor, when you hit zero then you're really laughing !!!

My wife, who frowned when I told her it was time to replace our 22 year old B5200 came home today saw no stump and actually said, "we should have bought one (backhoe/loader) years ago" and asked questions as to how I removed it! It was an imposing stump.

30 years is a pretty long time for a couple today. Given all that time, you must be doing some right... if not imposing...

That stump is already partially removed (out of the ground). The one I removed was a bit wider, and still in the ground and it took about three hours. The tree had cracked at about 4 feet above the base (it was one of those double trees). Less than two hours for your stump I would say, after you chain saw the tree off of it. The tree itself will be the bigger problem. The tree will take you a day or two depending on the size of your chain saw and your energy! At least it took me that long. My tree also had my daughter's tree house in it (not attached to the tree but fell with the tree) and that was a lot of treated wood to dispose of .

Looks like you were hard at work with that shiny new machine. Project makes me jealous. Just looking around my place for a tree that is suspicious. Will have to make up some story like it was leaning and didn't want to fall on anyone.
