BX25 fuel gauge always reads full

/ BX25 fuel gauge always reads full #11
Mine reads full until it gets somewhere under a half tank, then it will drop quickly. I have concluded it's just not accurate until I get down to maybe a 1/4 tank or so. Just assumed with the odd shape of the tank that that's the best Kubota could do for accuracy, but perhaps something's wrong with mine too. On the other hand, it seems a lot of BX owners report strange fuel gauge readings so it seems to be a design issue. Let us know what they say, and welcome to TBN.

why not take the ground off the rop connection and clean it and reinstall. if it still reads full with less thn full tank, then you know its not the ground.

I'm going to try that when I get some time at the end of the week. Thanks for the tip.

Mine is like yours, stays full for a while then goes down after a few hours, but gradually. It never really bothered me, I just figured I had overfilled it :)

Yeah maybe, I always fill the tank to the top...just a bad habit...:confused2:

I guess if something's gotta go wrong with the tractor, this is about as good a one to pick as any.....gauge or no gauge I'm not likely to run the thing dry.......maybe....and even if I did, the worst part would be hauling the can out to the tractor instead of the other way around.

Kyle: Shed's tight, for sure.....with 54" MMM, I have 3/4 inch clearance on either side.....and that's the fine-cut MMM which doesn't have a chute on the side......but still, the shed is a little bit bigger than it looks.....it's narrow but 30 ft long.....wider on the other end not in the picture. This side, with the little barn doors, was an add-on last year for my previous "tractor" (??) - Cub Cadet yard tractor.....pretty much useless machine except for cutting grass & hauling a small wagon. New shed, about to start construction, will attach to existing shed & will be finished by winter....bigger....20x15 addition (and wider doors!)....enough room to drop FEL & BH (onto roll-around dollys) and be able to mount MMM without having to hoist up front end of tractor to roll MMM under from front....right now, with all the stuff I have in there, the shed's too narrow for sliding it under from the side....but hey, this way I haven't had to pull the pins and turn the wheels.

Anyway, when the dealer services the BX, I'll find out how (or if) they fix the fuel gauge, and post the results.

Yeah that sounds tight!!! :confused2: Congrats on the addition!!! Maybe post some pictures in the project section. ;)

The fuel guge on my BX2660 only read accurately for the first tank full. After refueling that time it has never read correctly. Either always full or sometimes it reads somewhere in the middle for a while. Next start up full (with half a tank) etc... After reading here on TBN that it is a common problem I just decided it wasn't important and now after 90hrs have a good feel for how long I can run the tractor before it gets too close to empty.

I have had the same problem. The fuel Guage reads full until the tank is nearly empty. One time (with the guage reading full one minute and near empty the next - before I knew it), I got hung up in a ditch with low fuel and the tractor leaning to the side - Sucked air into the fuel lines and the tractor died in a ditch with it leaning on it's right side. The remaining fuel shifted to the right side and I couldn't refuel the tractor to get it started because the fuel was up to the fuel cap; because the shape of the tank - The fuel line couldn't get fuel. As a result, I couldn't get the tractor to start and pull itself out. Talked about pissed. Had to tow my tractor out of a ditch with my truck before it would start.

I let my dealer know about the fuel guage being erratic, but they just said they woulld talk to their area Kubota rep. about it and get back to me (4 days ago so far)

Moral of the story - Don't let your BX lean to the right to much with low fuel - it will stall out and you will get stranded.

If the dealer comes up with a fix - I'll let you all know.

Meanwhile, I leep it filled all the time now.

I have noticed that the fuel gauge resets when the tractor is started. That it, it goes to pegged-full and then settles back to the current reading. If I twist the key to start instantly, and the engine starts PDQ, the gauge can can be left in the pegged-full position reset position. I have found that turning the key to 'on', holding a moment, and then cranking the engine eliminates this occurrence. It also gives me a moment to read the engine hours.
