Its always good to have attachments. The more you have the easier each job will be. Check the QA and grapple systems from My Tractor Tools. Very stout pieces!!!!

Good pics! I'm looking forward to seeing that rock grapple on my BX!

Bro-Tek Attachments advices?

I placed an order for Kubota BX25 and Front-end Snow Blower yesterday  and am now considering purchasing several Bro-Tek attachments. Your advice on the following and anything else you can think of will be appreciated! :2cents:

(1) Wheel Spacers (Are they helpful on a hillside?)
(2) Steering Guard & Tool Box (How necessary are these?)
(3) Rear Skid Plate (I read that Rear is a Must even though BX25 comes with one.)
(4) Front Skid Plate (Should have? Would this make it cumbersome when I (dis-)mount front Snow Blower?)
(5) Ripper Tooth (Our ground is rocky. Will this help a lot?)
(6) Trencher/Plow (How useful is it in rocky ground?)
(7) Thumb (I read good comments.)

Your going to LOVE the BX25...

Wheel Spacers ARE on on my list to get for hillsides.

I will be making my own steering guard, everything I have seen is NOT enough.

The tool box, ummmm, jury is still out, I think I can do better.

BXpanded has a NICE "Full" skid pan! If your in the sticks it IS Necessary.

The ripper tooths I have seen are ok if you just want to "rip" . I will
be making a one up on them soon, plans are done.

Trencher / plow? Be more specific please.

A BH thumb IS necessarya nd after all my research I went w/ an EMP model.

Call THIS guy, tell him I sent you, pick his brain, look at his wares.

Skid Plate: Bro-Tek or EXpanded

Thanks Artisan for your comments. Do you know if I need to remove the skid plate (either BroTek or Bxpanded) to (un-)mount the front-end snowplowed?

Have you looked at actual BroTek items and felt that they are not sturdy enough? Thanks for your input!

I have the Bro-tek skid plate, and its definitely sturdy. I only have the rear one, so I cant say if the other plate would interfere with a snowblower. The Bxpanded plate looks nice, and I would definitely consider it if I did not already have the Bro-tek version.

I also have the Bro-tek ripper and the thumb. The ripper is very nice, and I use it often, and recommend it to anyone who is looking to add a ripper tooth to their backhoe. I've only used the thumb once, and it worked fine, but I wish I could try a side by side comparison with the other thumbs out there.

Thank you CORamos for your input! Would you mind expanding more on the ripper?

I just now received replies from both Bro-Tek and BXPanded as below:
Bro-Tek: Front skid can stays on with the Front blower.
BXPanded: The Under Armor must be removed when using the middle PTO. It takes about 30 seconds and no tools to remove or to re-install.

Since I do not have to remove it to use with a snow blower, the Bro-Tek plate will give me more protection. I'd be interested in hearing more comments from Bro-Tek and BXPanded skid plate users.

What do you use the ripper for? I'd be interested in knowing its uses and advantages.

Thanks!

Alaskan Kubota, on the skid plates also ask what type metal and thickness. One may be much weaker than the other. And look at attachment points. If your tractor lands on something hard you want to be sure the plate wont rip off. I would place these concerns over a few minutes to remove for blower shaft.

BXpanded Skid Plate

BXPanded: The Under Armor must be removed when using the middle PTO. It takes about 30 seconds and no tools to remove or to re-install.

Hi Chris, Thanks for your thoughts.

My understanding is that BXpanded's Skid Plate can NOT be used while using the front-end snow blower (or mid PTO). It's not the 30 seconds for its removal that I'm concerned about but the no protection at all while using the snow blower. As for the metal, their website says: "It's manufactured from 1/8 inch thick steel and finished with a tough Hammered Finish silver." As for Bro-Tek', I will have to check with them.

Thank you for the pointers!

With a Snow Blower you can not use a full aftermarket skid. Additionally
after you mount up the front SB set up I think your ground clearance
goes down to 3" or so...

Ummm, don't think I said anything is not sturdy enough. If were talking
about the front steering guard, yes, that steering rack needs a LOT more
than anything, any mfg is currently providing. I will make my own.

There is a member, LeeJohn I think it is, in the BX25 Full Cage Rollbar
thread who built a nice VERY heavy duty full skid. THAT is what I will
be looking into but I have other concerns, that is the MMM pto that
I do not want abandoned.

Paint it green and it well sell for green is what I see...

Orange is not far behind, if not overtaking...IMO

Kubotas are nice but I grew up with a john deere pedal tractor and my neighbor always had deere equipment so I didn't have much of a choice :)

I like both.

Alaskan Kubota,

The ripper has come in handy for loosening up stumps by ripping the roots.

I've also used it to help dig up rocks. Sometimes the ripper leaves a smaller hole than using the bucket on the backhoe to pry out rocks. 009.jpg010.jpg018.jpg

I recently also used it to dig a narrow trench when I added a zone to my lawn sprinkler system.

I definitely like it, and recommend it to anyone who asks.

BX25 DUAL WHEEL ADAPTORS

I did some research and I have found a guy that is making these beasts.
After a couple of detailed replys from Christian+ I am convienced that this
mod if used within reason, whereas it would be RARE if you were to hit
an outer wheel ALONE, hard, or with a great amount of weight,
(meaning your running w/ all 4 rear wheels on flat ground usually)
then I am conveinced it is A-OK to do.

Keeping the inner dual at peak pressure and the outer at a lower pressure
will work to lessen the "lever" effect as well, IMO.

There is another way to do this, other than what I have pictured w/ a ring and all thread rod.
CLICK HERE to see the other way designed by member "milkman" to do this.
I am actually wondering if the adaptor pictured were used WITH milkman's plastic
ring between the two rims as well, would this not be the ultimate!

The ring would keep rocks out and if cut w/ some precision would also
distribute some load, "possibly" absorbing some of that energy! Hmmmm?
Maybe a 12-3/4" OD x .375" wall tube x " X" " long.

+...as well as what I have read in milkmans thread...

A guy might be able to add air chuck nipples on the INSIDE of the inner dual's
rim so you can get at it easier OR maybe an RV hose extension...

I might have pictures of the method my tractor uses for dualies, but it is very similar to Milkmans... It hinges on a spacer at the outer edges of the rim, bolts holding it all together. The difference is that the inner tire is pointed in, (for you consider being mounted inside out with the flange of the wheel being all the way intoward the body) this keeps the rims VERY close, and reduces what I think is a potential issue with Milkmans and your find which is flex.... Not sure how you would accomplish this on a BX but it might be something to look at...

If you want pix I can dig.... I am in LA at the moment...

I made some dual wheel adapters for my buddys four wheeler with a similar laser cut set of bolt patterned circular cutouts welded to a pipe. They are 5 years old and still going strong.
