PS, Expect to pay more if you make "sketches" that are not to 1:1 scale for they
will have to draw it. I make 1:1 perfect drawings, keeps it cheaper.

Artisan;
Great article on the grapple. Too many folks opt for the heavy six foot model because they think it is necessary. I am going to build a model similar to yours. The Fasse fancy control group you used is fine for those that like all the toys. I plan on running a set of hoses from a rear remote that will be controlled by an additional lever. Being old I get confused easily so I can always tell the brain this lever controls the grapple, the loader control does everyrthing else. I am mounting this on a New Holand TC 55 DA so weight and power will be sufficient to handle what I plan to move.
Again, great article and attention to detail. I'm just finishing a build, a 12' 14k dump trailer. Turned out fantastic and saved enough to go shopping for more iron and tools.

Thanks Artisan. I'm going to have to start working on this a little here and little there and educate myself.

I wouldn't mind seeing some more info on how you built that dump trailer. I've had it in the back of my head for quite some time to build a dump trailer - just never gotten around to it. Now that my long standing barn building project may finally be winding down (been working non-stop on it for like 5 years now) - I may finally be able to get back and do some tractor welding and car welding projects. I'd really like to see a thread on what you built - and how you built it.

For 2d cutting some companies want a pdf, others dxf or dwg.

Its all translated into g code by cam software for the machine to read anyway so it doesn't really matter what you use. Any shop that can't convert between these formats is incompetent and I wouldn't trust them to make parts for me.

Probably a fair statement...if they can't convert they are either
really new or really lame....

Artisan,

I see you list your fasse diverter as a #302-666, but I do not see that valve listed in their webazine or any were else on the net. Is this a new valve they are offering? I find similar ones on their site but none with the four outputs on one side. I am just beginning my grapple build for my JD 2520 and was looking hard at the valve at the surplus center until you made some pretty good points to availability, serviceability, and possible re-engineering later on. I would like to see in my local JD dealer can get this diverter but want to make sure of the number as I have not seen it anywhere else. From what I see, most of Fasse's part numbers start in the 700's. Just curious as I don't want to confuse the dealer any more than they already are.

Thanks,
Ryan

Thanks Artisan. I'll give them a call this week and see what they have to say. Great build on your grapple. I can't wait to get started on mine. I have a tri-axle load of pole wood just begging to be relocated!

Be sure to look real hard at this guys wares before you build.
Write him, tell him what you have and ask for pics... I have seen
