BX 25
I recently replaced my Bx2200 with a new BX 25 and added the front snow blower. Now my shed is overflowing. I have the blower in the garage in front of my car right now but the loader won't fit there. If I store the back hoe and loader in the shed the tractor will be hanging out by several feet. Obviously I need a bigger shed but that's not going to happen soon so I am wondering if anyone else stores their loader outside? I think the loader would be the best choice for outside storage and I would cover it with a tarp. Any suggestions of what other precautions to take?

Spray it down with a thin coat of oil or wd40. Set it off the ground a bit too.

I park mine on the ground with no worries... Its a tractor after all ;)

If you think you wont use it for a long (6mths or more) time then a thin coat of grease on the cylinder rods wouldnt hurt just be sure to clean it off before operating again. As to a tarp.. I find tarps cause more rust than they prevent.

If you want to get really **** (and make a mess) you could spray the arms with something like fluid film, but personally i wouldnt go there.

I'm having the same issue with the new tractor and the growing list of attachments. Soooo, I have decided to bite the bullet and build an bigger, higher pole barn. (If the boss lets me) I'll let you know how I make out.

does your shed have a solid floor? do you have a dolly for your backhoe?

i find that being able to store mine in an orientation other than the one which allows for mounting/removal saves a lot of space. i.e., turning it perpendicular to the tractor at the back of the shed.

I use vaseline on the rods of my backhoe when its stored outside.

This can help gain space, and using the loader dolly in conjunction can increase the saved floor space.

I have both the loader and backhoe dolly and can reduce the overall footprint of the two by storing the backhoe "inside" the loader arms. That is, you can push the loader on the dolly into the desired place, then push the backhoe dipper stick into the space between the loader arms.

You gain about two and a half feet in the overall length of space needed - width space required remains the same of course.

Thanks all for the suggestions. I used the dolly method on my woods groundbreaker back hoe for my last tractor but the pavement is uneven and rolling is pretty difficult. The kubota hoe balances a lot different than the woods hoe and I actually tipped it over trying to roll it and snapped one of the dollies in half. I'll skip the tarp and go with some form of lube on the exposed pistons on the loader.

I've been keeping mine outside in the winter with a heavy tarp over the loader arms to keep the sun from fading the finish or degrading the hoses. No rust & even the quick connects still look new. The key is to leave the underside open for air circulation.

I use the same tarp for the blower in the summer on a plastic pallet with the chute removed.
