Mine was delivered on a rollback truck with 2 chains hooked and wrapped onto the front frame, and 2 to the rear drawbar.

I use the 4". maybe 3" wide nylon? straps (Harbor Freight). Have used them on an L, several Bs and several BXs. I have a 16' utility trailer. I hook the ends on the side rails of the trailer near an upright point or under the edge of the floor of the trailer. I strap the BX25 across the front weight with the bucket curled down on its front edge. I run the strap across the floor of the back hoe platform and strap down.
I usually swing the BH bucket to one side getting the tractor on the trailer so bottom of back bucket doesn't drag the ground. I then adjust the BH from side to side to where I can get the gate lifted and closed. No pro but been doing it with no problem for 10 years. :2cents:

I would advise you not to complicate things. I trailer my BX-25 with both buckets on the deck, the parking brake on, and one strap securing the front bucket and one securing the rear boom. You can see the straps in the photo. Regarding the parking brake, I found it a good practice to always tap the brake when I get on the tractor before throttling up. I would advise all new tractor owners to do this. If you plan on using your parking brake--and you don't do this--then you will operate the tractor with the brake on. It's just a matter of time.

I have a BX2370 with a FEL and we trailer it on a 10' trailer and we have to back it up onto the trailer until the 3pt hitch is hanging over the front rail of the trailer. Once that is done, we set the parking brake and then we dump the bucket all of the way then put it down on the trailer deck and we have about an inch between the top of the bucket and the ramp to spare for the tractor to move on the trailer. So we don't bother tieing it to the trailer in anyway.
Don't get caught not tying down the tractor. That could be a hefty fine for an unsecured load. I would not risk it.
That is ridiculous. Be sure to post a pic to the "share pics of people towing or hauling something wrong" thread.

I'll just say WOW!!!:shocked::shocked: to this. Believe a vouple more people gave more words than I'll do. My first thought was that a 10' trailer usually isn't rated to carry anything as heavy as a BX with FEL (mowing deck on it to?). You know the weight of the trailer itself has to be factored into the gross weight carrying ability of a certain trailer, don't you? I say this because I didn't and had transported an L3240 FEL on a 16' dual axle trailer rated at 7000 lbs and with the weight of the trailer was probably over the weight limit for the trailer. I use a 16' dual axle 7000lb capacity trailer now for my Bs, BXs and Fs. I do strap ALL of them down and always have.

The answer is YES. Any load on a trailer must be secured, even something as small as a push mower on a trailer. It depends on what law enforcement officer sees the unsecured load and whether he wants to do the paperwork but it is illegal to have an unsecured load.

It is not just the fine, I happen to have a friend, that thought it would be "OK" to transport a Case 580K just about a mile on the trailer behind the dump truck to the next site.. So, no tie downs at all, just drove it up there, and lowered the bucket and BH on to the wooden deck.. Then took off down the road. Went around a fairly gentle(he thought) curve, and the 580 rolled off of the trailer sideways and came to rest in the ditch on its side.

Well we have a utility trailer with side walls and a locking rear ramp so we never thought that anything would happen.

Just think if you were towing your unsecured BX at 50 MPH and someone pulled in front of you. You and your truck / trailer come to a dead stop. Do you think the BX would stay on the trailer or do a flip over onto the top of your truck.
I saw 4 accidents this past summer of landscape guys that haul their zero turns on trailers without securing them. People in a hurry pulled out in front of them, they couldn't stop and hit the offender stopping their truck / trailer. At one of these accidents a zero turn did fly off the trailer and into the pick up bed crushing the cab. Fortunately the driver wasn't hurt. I saw that accident happen, called 911 and stopped to assist. That accident happened on a 40 MPH road. The others I came upon after the fact. I cringe and keep my distance everytime I see an unsecured load on a trailer. Be safe and secure that BX.

I have seen many Zero turns just drove up on the trailer and unsecured, but like you say, all it takes is one time to hit the brakes in an emergency situation to cause disaster.

@JOHNTHOMAS about that "to the side" backhoe: depending on the local authorities, you may be just fine with the hoe behind a closed tailgate. Around here (IIRC) they want to see the travel pins in the hoe, or the bucket lashed down.

I have a BX1500..... In the front I bolted two short sections of chain to the subframe. I use nylon tie straps from each to anchor points on the trailer. In the rear I use a clevis on the hitch and anchor to the trailer with nylon straps to the trailer. It works really well and it's fast to secure everything.
No way I would move anything with out way-more tie downs than required. I have scene to many items damaged and even have known people killed from items not secured.

My preference is to use chains in the rear (because they are stronger) and straps in the front. My logic is because you are much more likely to hit something and the load will want to move forward vs. a jack rabbit start putting minimal stress on the straps

Looks like your front straps are not doing anything to hold the machine down but rather keeping it from rolling backwards. Even pulling it forward if something happened to chains in the rear. I have chains and straps but feel totally confident that my straps will hold mine DOWN.
Did you add those hooks on the rear, like those. Welded or bolted on? More pics of them, please.
Looked again at rear hooks and noticed you also have back being pulled back with chains instead of DOWN. If front straps were to break then you'd have a loose tractor with lots of rolling potential also assuming the brakes that should be locked on are not able to hold the tires on that wood deck. My:2cents: is you need to strap it DOWN instead of being pulled front to back or back to front.
