There is a shear bolt in the yoke that attaches the PTO shaft to the gearbox. So far I have picked up many a branch and have shredded them and have not broken the shear bolt in 100 plus hours of bagging.

With no political pressure from Father in law and Son in law, I'm betting she chooses Green. :)
Moving on from my bagger is better than your bagger. We all know how they attach on both tractors now and the one you have is better than the one the other boys have.:)
So, your saying a Green tractor is chosen more by women than by men?:laughing::laughing::laughing::laughing::laughing: Glad my wife didn't help me buy any of my ten.:) I do know the reason and I'll tell it later. Guarantee I know it!

Don't mind me, I'm grumpy with chemo this morning, but it seems to me that if you bought ten tractors, and didn't get one that was right, you shouldn't judge the choices made by others.

I support John Thomas's addiction. If I have I had more land I would own as many tractors as I would see fit for my property. As new models come out and ones needs change you buy new things to accomodate them, not just only tractors. Granted somethings don't wear out, but who doesn't want new things.

Well the father in law pulled a fast one today and left work early without anyones knowledge. He tried one kubota dealer for a BX2660 with a 60" MMM and bagger with a rockbottom price of 14700. Off to the green dealer he went and lost interest in the X 748 Deere after seeing how well the Kubota was built in comparison and the easier on/off bagger set up the bota had to offer.

He then checked one more Kubota dealer on the way home and walked out with a BX2660 60" MMM bagger and (loaded tires for whatever reason the dealer threw them in) for $14200. So it looks like mom in law won't have to make the decision after all.

Thanks guys for all your help!!!!

I did not see that one coming....

OK, I'm not "minding" you but what part of my comment was I judging anyones choices? I also don't see anywhere that I bought ten tractors and didn't get one that was right. Eight of them were right at the time for the jobs that I had at the time. Two were not right and by buying them I found that out. The BX2350 wasn't right because it had a "problem" transmission and the L3240HST was not right because it was to big for my needs and property. I accept the L as my fault and the BX2350 as Kubotas fault. I in fact have three now that are right.

Sorry to hear about your health problems; hard to function when you feel like heck.

Sorry JT, I interperted that you thought the green tractor was a poor choice. I well understand the joy of the "deal" and have been there a few times myself, and I'm not criticizing your decisions to trade often. I had a salesman tell me the other day that the firearm I was looking at would be a good "woman's gun" what ever that is. I took that the same way. Many tractors will get the job done, it's all about choice, and fitting your personality. Personally, I have respected all firearms that have been fired at me equally too! :D :D

My first duty weapon had "LadySmith" engraved on the side; looked just like every other 2 1/2 inch Model 66 on the line. I got it cheap as no one was comfortable carrying a "girl's gun"; didn't bother me and I still have it though I later was allowed to carry Glocks.

Hey, I am a halfbreed "green/orange" owner. My comment about the woman buying green wasn't based on anything to do with mechanical advantages such as removing the bagger, which she will NEVER do.

Women "generally" don't see mechanics. They tend to be visual and simple comfort oriented. A green machine tends to look more finished, smoother design, more comfort oriented controls, etc. That usually appeals more to women. An example is I told my wife I was considering selling our JD2210 and buying a BX2660. One day we were at a Kubota dealership and we looked at a 2660. One walk-around and she looked at me like she questioned my intelligence/sanity and said "And why exactly do you think we need to trade our John Deer for this"? I changed the subject and we haven't talked of it since. To her there was no comparison and the Deere won hands down. Had nothing to do with ANYTHING mechanical. All about visuals.

Men tend to look at how the frame is welded up or how tough the floorpan is or how well the hood latches or have lengthy discussions about the removal of the bagger.

I'm just talking from personal experience. If given a choice my wife has always chose the green machine leaving me to the orange machine. Don't ya love it when a plan comes together!!! ;)
