BX2660 vs Deere X748

Well tomorrow we are going to hit the Kubota and John Deere dealers to see which machine is most appealing to the mother in law. I will being going to the orange dealer first as the first impression is usually a deciding factor in making a decision. The comfort factor will be the final decision maker as both are great machines for their intended purposes.

With no political pressure from Father in law and Son in law, I'm betting she chooses Green.

Well the father in law pulled a fast one today and left work early without anyones knowledge. He tried one kubota dealer for a BX2660 with a 60" MMM and bagger with a rockbottom price of 14700. Off to the green dealer he went and lost interest in the X 748 Deere after seeing how well the Kubota was built in comparison and the easier on/off bagger set up the bota had to offer.

He then checked one more Kubota dealer on the way home and walked out with a BX2660 60" MMM bagger and (loaded tires for whatever reason the dealer threw them in) for $14200. So it looks like mom in law won't have to make the decision after all.

easier on/off bagger set up the bota had to offer

What is this easier on/off you guys are talking about?

On my X475 I pull two pins and the bagger is in the ground. Quick Hitch or something they call it. I'm pretty sure the sprayer and "tool tub" mount the same way.

What makes the Kubota bagger easier than that?

I am referring to the easier removal of the pieces that attach to the deck. The Bota boot and tube are off in seconds. The Deere uses a belt that runs off of a deck pulley, more of a hassle. There is no need to take the bags off just the portion attached to the deck if one would not want to bag the grass.

I pull a lever that removes tension on the belt, I unhook the belt, I pull the boot out of its mounting hole, the tube comes with it. The deflector springs down on its own.

I bet I can do it in less than ten seconds with my eyes closed.

And you're telling me this can be made easier?!? And that its a selling point for someone? Sounds like pure propaganda to me....

Easier from my perspective. I don't have any experience with the Deere bagger only the Kubota bagger as that is what I have owned the past several years. The Deere setup just looked complicated on the showroom floor.

If you have no experience, claiming one is easier than the other means nothing.

But how does the Kubota bagger throw the grass clippings into the bags without being run off a pulley?

The bagger blower runs off of the rear PTO via a gearbox.

I found some pictures.... So what happens when you get a rock or large stick in the blower? Is the PTO shaft shear pin protected? Or is there a belt in the perpendicular piece?
