Did Some mowing today on the Kubota, and when I got back I realized that my coolant was boiling in my overflow.

Checked the radiator screen it was clear.

Checked the oil it was fine.

Checked the coolant and its full in the radiator but a little low in the overflow. It could be because it was spewing out when I shut it off.

Am I missing something?

Thanks
Dave

A little out of left field, maybe but... both my BX and GR fan belts will wear "skinny", sometime so badly that they can't be adjusted to be the proper tension. When this happens the fan still spins and looks like it's working, but is rotating too slowly to properly move air. I've pegged the gauge on a hot day due to that. Don't know if your machine is subject to that.

If you've already checked the fan belt... never mind...

Did you check air filter?

Shine a light through the radiator with the screen off and see how it looks.
On our BX2660 we will frequently have the radiator be plugged even though the screen does not look bad.
Blowing out radiator fins with air and or water seems to take care of it.

+1 to that. Keeping radiator clean is #1 job to avoid overheating, particularly during mowing season. Rinse with hose or air when the engine is cool, of course. The screen doesn't stop the fine stuff.

Good advice from Aczlan. I will make my usual comments on over heating BX machines. My BX2200 has always run "hot" when mowing with the 60" MMM in hot weather. Regardless of what I do it runs close to the red line if it is real hot weather and I mow for 1/2 hr or more. Compressed air is good for the radiator cleaning independent of how hot it is.

My firm belief is that the water pump is undersized on these machines. I want to swap in a water pump off of a larger 'Bota (like a B2150 or other 4 cyl if it fits) to prove it but just never had time/energy to do it. Flushing your radiator with a good chemical may help if yours has a lot of crud inside. All the BX I know of have this issue and I've heard of so many others I believe it is an across the board issue.

Bingo! The radiator was plugged. Screen ever stopped it.

Thanks

Yep, that will do it. I make sure to blow my BX2200's radiator out every few mows. Either with the leaf blower or my air gun off off the compressor.

I've never had a blockage that bad...

The radiator on my BX had a bunch of fuzzy stuff in it, even though the screen was clean. I have a 3 foot long wand for my air blow gun. Went in from the fan side and got is all cleaned out, It never over heated, in fact the water temp gauge only barely gets 1/4 of the way up on the gauge, even when it's 80+ degrees out.IMG_20200628_144056745 (Custom).jpg
