HI JOHN,Ive been following this thread, nice work on the hydraulics.Ihope BELGRADE doesnt get as much snow as last year. The mill had us on the roofs for 3 days straight ,snowblowing and shoveling in MARCH,so the warehouses wouldnt cave in:rolleyes::rolleyes:
ALAN

Hi Alan,

I am hoping for less snow this year too, but am better prepared for it this year. I have the blower and blade all on and ready to go, but am safisfied to wait for awhile. I remember reading a few stories about roof collapses last winter....one was the brand new DHHS building in Augusta. I remember as a kid thinking that snow couldn't be that heavy...until I had to shovel my first roof!:D:D Are the people you work for related at all to the Tractor Dealer? John

Hi Dyer,

Just jumped back on tbn as I am trying to get my unit ready for winter. Loved the look of that hydraulic chute rotator. Do you have any info on parts and costs as I really want to do that asap. I just put a soft ATV cab on my unit and I really want to get rid of the manual crank. Sorry if you have told the story before!

muskokaBX24,

Take a look at page 4, post #40, of this thread. I listed the major parts numbers and prices. The mount is one that I fashioned myself. I'd be happy to send you any other information you need, just let me know. There are also many threads on similar setups if you search "Snowblowers." Good Luck and let us know how it's going. Huckflynn,

I was in Auburn today and stopped by a Kubota dealer to look at a 2660 they had on the lot. I guess when they ran the hydraulics lower and forward, they eliminated the need for the metal support post that my BX1800 has. I guess they didn't leave themselves much for alternatives to support the hand crank. It kind of looks like it would be substantially less engineering to rig up an electric or hydraulic chute rotation, than to try anchoring that handcrank more solidly. I'd have a hard time creating some support system that I would have to drill into that brand new machine. Let us know what you end up deciding. Dyer, retired

I'm waiting on parts from Northern Tool and Surplus Supply to start implementation of your setup. But you got me thinking about a better setup for the manual chute system. I stopped at Lowe's and picked up some 3/4" pvc pipe and connectors. See attached photo. This works as good as the Kubota setup -- actually better in that it puts no strain on the hydraulic control lever. The long piece of PVC flexes so I have to use 2 hands to rotate -- but if I replaced that section with a 3/4" piece of hardwood I'm guessing it would completely solve the issue. Cost? 6 bucks (and not a hole drilled in my new tractor.)

If it were done in steel with a couple of pins for disconnecting it would be a quality solution. I'm surprised Kubota settled for something so poorly designed as their existing setup.

Has anyone fabricated new/different adjustable skids for the 2750? I just ordered some nestable 2" square tubing, I'm going to make a slip fit / hole/pin arrangement. I have to clear a good size gravel area, and a good size pavement area of snow. For pavement I like to drop the blower all the way down to scrape the pavement.....can't do that on the gravel of course without moving all the gravel into the yard. And adjustment on the fly is not an option with the factory bolt on skids. I plan on making a set of oversize skids about twice OEM size, and then use a simple nested tubing with pins to adjust the height. I'll just have to hop out of the cab, pull the pins and move them.

I seriously considered using crank style trailer/RV jacks....but I'm not sure how they would fare with the side loading that would be applied to the skids.

Huck,

Excellent solution until you get the hydraulic rotator going and very creative. In the meantime, could you drive a snugly fitted hardwood dowel down the center of the long section of pvc to firm it up? I did that on a roof rake extention (long story) and it worked great! I like the price on your support too!:D If those guys at Lowe's knew how many times we've been in there inventing things while we walked the isles, ha! I also like to build mockups of what I intend to do and try to work out bugs that show up while doing that. I built a mockup of the hydraulic support out of cardboard and when everything was the way I wanted it, I used that to cut the steel and orient the parts I needed to weld. I tend to measure 40 times and cut once, so it slows things down, but I got it right the first time. Good job.....just need to figure out how to get PVC in Orange! :D Dyer, retired

Funny you should mention that. I was looking around the garage for something that might work. Found an old car wash brush with an aluminum handle. I used the aluminum. Not a snug fit, but close. It extends from top to bottom -- solid through the T connector and into both the elbows. Added screws at ALL the connectors -- through the aluminum. It stiffened things up enough that I can turn it with one hand. The snug fitting wood dowel would have been better. Even snug fitting PVC would have done the trick -- as long as it could run the entire length. I found such a piece but it was still attached to a working rake and I couldn't bring myself to cut it up. This will do until my (your) hydraulic solution is in place.

Perfect! The nice part now is that you don't have to be in a rush with the hydraulic transition. I would have felt a little more hurried if it was still attached to the hydraulic lever. I agree with you that Kubota should have come up with a better fix than what they did for you and I suspect that they are working on it now. My neighbor with the B2620 had his blower (BX2750D) put on at the dealer and they attached a square metal post similar to what you had on your previous tractor, and what I have on mine. It is mounted to the frame and acts only as a support for the manual crank. His crank rod gets quite a bit of flex in it when rotating the chute, due to the extended length required on that model. They could make a nice detachable post modeled after your new support and make it a selling point. Kubota may now need to buy your implied copyrights for that design!:D Good work! Dyer, retired

Deyer and escavader,

Thanks for the names of the dealers. I think that I found a blade. I should know more tomarow. My dealer is checking to make sure it is right and see about shipping it out to me.

With that in mind one last markup (I'm sure the engineers at kubota monitor our forums :D)
