BXpanded snow plow?

Yeah it is an old thread but an ongoing issue.

I have been hunting for a solution to snow clearing for the past 6 months. Have 2 long gravel driveways on 2 properties a mile apart, and a tractor on each. Was leaning toward a 3pt blower but not so easy to swap from driveway to driveway/tractor to tractor. Have a few other BXpanded products and happy with quality and design. Had looked over their plow a year or two ago but forgotten about it in more recent hunting.
I certainly wish I had hit this thread sooner. The positive and negative feedback is helpful - also a few videos that I did not find on Youtube doing a search.
I bit the bullet and ordered a plow from Harry. While it will not get here before the next snow fall it will no doubt get plenty of use.
If I can make one recommendation to Harry (and all advertisers) - you need to get some more videos of your product in action. Some competitive plows have no video in the snow at all - hard to picture how easy it will make my life when no one has gone to the trouble of recording it. (that said - I will make an effort to shoot some video of mine soon!)
Thanks for the thread!

Like the above poster, I know this is an old thread, but I too have a question regarding the plow. I have the BXpanded tooth bar, can the plow be attached with the tooth bar on? Or would the tooth bar need to be removed?

I think I may be picking one of these up next week! I was quoted $2,600 for the Kubota plow with Hydrauics, yea thats not going to happen.

I'm still glad I have mine! If you have gravel get the shoes!

I made a couple of modifications to make it better. ( not sure if Harry has changed anything since I bought mine.) 1. make the hook for the bucket top wider. 2. put on a safety cable - (This is easy to do and is a really good thing! When you lift up the plow to pile the upward pressure on the plow can release the chain and the plow will take a quick, scary nosedive)

'Tis the season for talk of plows! This is my second winter using the BXpanded 60" plow. Like others who have posted, I had concerns about the weight offset with the plow out in front of the bucket but I also wanted a quick switch system that allowed me use the bucket in winter. So I took a close look before buying the BXpanded plow and determined it had good potential. There is no issue with weight offset if you use a box blade or weight box to counter the weight of the plow. Even without rear weight, you can get the job done if you are careful and don't have steep spots to deal with. I have found the extended reach of the plow to be a big advantage pushing snow up a bank, plowing under the mailbox or just plain pushing snow way back from the drive without leaving the drive. I have found frame mounted plows very limited for these operations. Additionally, the BXpanded design allows for a side offset positioning of the plow. This is a great feature for pushing the banks back an extra few feet when the banks get high late in the season and you need some breathing room before the next snow.

Now the thing is, I don't have a Kubota. I have a Massey GC1705 with a DL95 loader. The standard bucket connection rig Harry (BXpanded) includes uses a load binder. That rig will not work with the Massey DL95 loader as designed. The frame of the loader interferes with opening and closing the load binder. The good news is that Harry has an alternate ratchet strap rig that will work with the Massey DL95. The ratchet strap setup works but I found it kind of annoying after last season due to the lack of working room with the Massey DL95 loader. So this year I abandoned the ratchet strap and hooked up the plow using my bucket hooks and chain. This method uses two points of connection instead of one and solves the problem of the plow sliding a little along the bucket edge as others have mentioned and I too experienced. It was never much of a problem and didn't slow me down but better not to slide if possible. I realize not everyone has bucket hooks but if you do this would be one of the many uses they provide. If anyone has a Massey and wants to see what I did I can get some pics.

Bucket hooks I am using are from Ken's Hooks, boltonhooks

Also, back dragging with the BXPANDED plow works fine. The extra reach helps with this also.

Hello, this was my first summer with the tooth bar and like you I was curious about just leaving it on when it came time to install the BXpanded plow. I tried it and did not like the fit where the plow lift tabs meet the tooth bar. It will be less than full contact and likely to slip or foul up in some unpredicted way. I decided to remove the tooth bar since the tooth bar is fast and easy to remove, provides no advantage during winter and I would really be angry with myself if I damaged either item to save ten minutes. No gain in leaving it on from my perspective, just risk.

Hi RockyLn. I also have a Massey Ferguson (GC2300), so it is likely that I would experience the same issue that you speak of regarding the load binder not working for me. I'd love to see some pictures of the setup you settled on when you have a moment.

Thanks,
Thom
