Looking
I'm shopping for a cab heater to plug into my 2360. The manual says not to plug anything in over 120 watts, but I'll need to know what kind of amperage / load the charging system is rated for. Can anyone help with this?

I realize a better option is to plumb into the cooling system, but I don't have the time (or expertise) to tackle it right now. Might be a project for next year, though. I'd be interested in hearing from people who've done this on their own. What's the level of difficulty?

Thanks.

Update: I just did a little online shopping and turns out everything I saw was over 120 watts. So maybe the electric heater won't even be an option. Looks like I'll be having a little less fun than I thought plowing the driveway this winter. Now I'm really interested in hearing from someone who's plumbed into the cooling system for heat - anybody out there?

I think the manual already answered your question. 120 watts, or 10 amps. That probably explains why the cigarette power outlet uses a 10 amp fuse. You can draw more, but it will most likely draw-down the battery reserve PDQ.

I have read that Kubota sells a heavier alternator (40 amps IIRC).

Do not waste your time with an electric heater. I tried the electric heater and it did not give me enough heat. Not sure if the BX2360 engine air intake is at feet like mine. But if it is like my BX 2200 it will bring cold air into the cab from all openings. As a result the amount of heat the electric heater puts out is not enough to warm the cab.

BUT a cab with no heat is much better then no cab at all IF you are snow blowing.:D

I still have the electric heater, if you want it just pay me for shipping and you can have it.

My cab came with a vinyl velcro cover for the radiator intake at your feet. Sucks air from below the floor. :2cents:

Don't waste your time with 12v heaters. I keep telling others, its lukewarm air, it doesnt really warm you up. Its a supplemental heat in a car WITH heat. If you have NO heat, it takes forever to warm the air. I know becuase my car heat quit one time and I tried the 150 and 300 watt version, it doesnt work well in a well sealed car. The BX has alot of holes in it from the levers and hst pedal, around the seat that will let the cold in and you will bee frustrated with the 12v heater.

Just look at it this way- a cab with no heat IS so much better then open station tractor.

ignore danner comment on 40 amp alt. Your BX already has it, its the BX23 that needs an upgrade if anything extra is plugged in. On a side note, the wire to the cig plug is awfully thin, I wouldnt use it for a heater. The wire looks like 18 or 22 gauge i think.

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to repost under a different thread and see if I can get some info on plumbing into the coolant system.

I was thinking about windchill, snow and all the great stuff I have to look forward to this year, being the first year with my BX25.

I don't have a cab but I do have a motorcycle and I ride that sucker down in the 20's with highway speed windchill going on.

What has worked for me with the motorcycle, I was thinking about trying it with the Kubota, is my electric heated gear.

In theory should just need an adapter to go from the electric jacket/vest to the aux power outlet.

If you have a snowblower AND you blow into the wind, it will land on you and the seat. When it melts into the seat you will be sitting in a pool of water. NOT FUN :mad:that is why a cab is nice with or without heat.:D

Isn't that the truth. Then you stand up and that cold wind hits your wet butt.
