I just started my cab. I thought I would show & tell. I got a good start on the frame & doors.

Nice work.../w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif I only wish I had the talent to do work like that.../w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

Now I know where the "Cab" comes from in cabinetmaker/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif. That looks like one substantial piece of framework with a good fit.

What kind of stock is that you are using? Did you have a set of plans you were following,or did you just follow your instincts? Looks very good.

Thanks for sharing your project. Once I see yours completed I may start to believe I could make one myself.

The frame is 1" x 2" x 1/8" wall tubing. I had looked at some cabs and alot of pics, I made several drawings and it is looking the way I wanted it to so far. It is hard to build without plans but it can be done, just takes longer.
I will post more as I get closer to the end.

Wow, nice job. Have you been using cardboard or something else for a template to get such a nice fit on the steel, though I think it could be a little windy :)

Man,that is a really nice jod you're doing.I just bought a Laurin cab for my machine and yours looks like it is built very similar.Once I got mine and looked at it I said to myself "It really doesn't look like more than a bunch of square stock....".Also the window install is very simple, automotive glass glued to the frame work. How much time have you invested so far? Can't wait to see more pics.

The glove fit helps alot when you weld it together on the tractor. I borrowed 4 fire blankets from a freind to keep the green paint.
tags, so far I have about 20 working hours and about 80 thinking hours. I will have tempered glass glued in when it's finished. I made the doors removeable by raising them up 2 1/2".

Will the cab work as a rollover cage?
Here in Sweden it is mandatory with a rollover cage if the tractor is used by someone outside the family or comercially.

DDT,
do you plan on installing a heater? during the snow days,
it would sure be great to have one.

I don't think I will get enough heat from the engine for good heat, I will try it first and see. If not I might look at 12 volt or colent heaters.
UPDATE
I got my cab done. I took it to the body shop for a paint job. He called last night, so I took the tractor and we put it on with 4 bolts, all the adhive back foam was in place, it sure looks good. Well they were claiming a snow so I hooked up the lights and flashers so I could go at 4:00 AM. we got 2". I got done by 2:00. Man it was cold. I got the glass today when I got home. A man will be here tomorrow AM to glue the glass in. You should have seen all the funny looks I got! New cab NO GLASS. Well it should be winter ready by the next snow.
I will post the finished pic's when it's complete.
