Buying Advice cab tractor

buy the tractor you want, and deal with storage later.

if leaving outside, (no real big deal) or less garage was heated. assuming it is not.

you will still more likely want to invest in say a "block heater" and/or oil pan heater and/or battery blanket warmer. (block heater for sure) if it is a diesel.

a question garage door. is there no way to take old door out and raise door a few inches? or does rafters for ceiling of garage sit right there?

there are varity of cheap wind blockers / sheds ment just for a car or truck or tractor. to help keep snow / rain / sun off of them.

I had a lean to added to my shop a few years ago. the new cabbed kioti fits with room to spare..even after adding a beacon on the roof. It would never fit even thru an 8' tall garage door

My brother in law NH 2030 just barely fits inside an 8' door with maybe an 1" to spare. You need to have at least 9 foot ceiling height to mount an 8' door.

It often amuses me how obsessed some of us are about keeping our tractors inside while leaving our trucks and cars outside.

Me too, while I would like to have everything indoors I have observed that my 38 year old tractor has survived well outside all of its life. After 32 years I added a rops and canopy which has helped with the seat life expectancy. Knowing my equipment would sit outside alot is one reason I have cabs.

ALL my stuff is kept indoors. I wont spend hard earned cash and let something sit out in the snow/rain/beating sun.

Just cant do it.

Around here, it is not unusual for people to leave cars, trucks and yes even tractors outside. Our renters "store" some of their equipment sitting at the edge of one of our fields. I now keep all of our tractors under cover, but have not always been able to. We have tractors that lived outside for 30 years or more.

A friend of mine owns a construction company and has about ten acres of tractors and equipment that never go in a shed.

Is that why I clean snow off my truck all winter?

Here's a wrinkle I haven't seen yet in this thread - for snowblowing, it's best to leave the machine outside anyway. A snow blower collects a lot of slush and dirt you don't want making a mess of your garage. And if the garage is warmer than outside (usually is) the snow will stick to the blower when you start out. My rig will just fit under my 7-1/2' barn door heads - but I only bring it in for maintenance. I leave it parked where I can plug in the block heater for a couple hours before starting - all is good.

Thats what my lean to was built for.....tractor and blower under cover
