Cabela's and TYM Tractors

Looks like TYM is now selling mini excavators. They are on the new and improved website. Wonder if Cabela's is gonna follow suit.

Cabelas is a pretty organized operation in more ways than is apparent. Many don't know they are a flyin/flyout operation for hunters and fisherman going to Canada as an example.

While I'd imagine they would want to solidify and expand their tractor operationa (justas they did with boats and outboards) . . . I imagine it was not a coincidence that their name is "Land Management".

Has anyone bought an LM25 from Cabelas?

I've never seen a TYM dealership anywhere I've traveled . . but I've certainly seen numerous Cabelas Land Management locations with their 7 or so tractor sizes and extensive service locations.

The LM25 is their subcompact model built for them by TYM.

But I've not met anyone who owns one as yet.

Cabelas needs to advertise that they work on them. What turns me away from weird brands, 4 wheelers and UTVs, is worrying about parts and service. Until I read this thread, I had no idea they worked on them.

I do think it is a common market for them. Lots of hunters putting in food plots.

Zerk, Cabelas doesn't do anything half way. I the early 2000s they started doing pontoon boats, bass boats, and outboard motors of all sizes. Evey industry analyst uestion how they could even surviven thst market area. And today the brands they sell like Trakker . . they are the largest dealer in the country. They not only srrvice what they sell . . thrir regional warehouses are also regional parts supply locations. They hold the highest cetifications . . Etc. Etc. They did thr samevthing with atv and rtv choices.

Now wherever they have Land Management locations . . They have established full srrvice shops to work on sny and all of their tractor models. I don't believe they go above 100 hp or below the LM25 size.

I live close to a Cabelas and go there a bit. But I had no idea they worked on anything.

There value is they have lots of stuff, pretty much everything is cheaper elsewhere. If they don't have it on the shelf, I order it from someone who does, and save the money. So I have to suspect this pricing scheme would carry through.

I buy enough to get the hard cover catalogue, but I shop around, look for sales, or I just want it now. But I think society in general is turning into mail order economy, more variety. There catalogues have more then stores do.

I also use points to offset the high prices.

Zerk. I'll use 3 Cabelas as examples. Nestled into a small Misdissippi river town is their Prairie Du Chien location. The store itself is nice but but small by Cabelas standards . . Yet it is a Land Management an Boat location. How? Well this small city small location has one of the 5 distribution warehouse structures right behind it. Nearly 400,000 feet of warehouses alone. From that small store you can pick up almost anything that is in the catalogs or internet website. And of course beyond that . . is their service and repair facility and stocking parts operation for boats and land management.

Every Cabelas is not a Land Management site . . but we have 3 LM locations in our area with Prairie du Chien being one, Owatonnaand Minneapolis being other 2.

And if you know how to shop the system . . . all my ammo/firearms and many truck/atv/boat accessories come from there at exceptionally low affordable pricing. I can only assume if TYM product is a goal that exceptional pricing opportunities exist there too :)

Not every store has a warehouse behind it. What bugs me is how slow the delivery to the store is, quicker usually to have it shipped to the house. Though I think there shipping was faster a few years ago. Used to be I would get something from PDC in a couple days. Now a week. Funny Amazon used to be 2-3 days, now unless you pay for prime it is a week, longer if you go for the free shipping. Holding inventory cost money, and this may be a result of it. Maybe staffing. With Amazon, I thought they want to push you to get Prime.

I like Cabelas, but exceptional pricing is not a word I have ever used to describe them. If everything else they sell has a higher mark up then competition, I suspect tractors do to.

I am going to sound negative now, but I have also wondered if they delibrately let you wait buying firearms, so you will keep shopping. Like a supper club, sitting you at the bar, Ha. February was a little better. But when I go to Midwest Shooters, they pick up the phone in front of you. The call doesn't take long at all. Gun was $30 more than Scheels and Midwest. But they had the caliber in stock, and I didn't want to wait. My downfall, and there business plan.

Sometimes I think of buying elsewhere, on principle, but I do have lots of points.

Zerk. The key to Cabelas store pricing is always the same . . Always know ALL the cabelas website prices for the items you want to buy . . Always. If you are paying shelf pricing . . you have more money to spend than I do.

As far as gun approval timeframes . . Dicks and gander are the same. You are comparing a single site or small franchise action to a franchised central approval system. The approvals are through the central system because of guaranteed liability verification.

And Tractor pricing? Their advertised deals of free implements look pretty attractive if you are looking at TYM product.

I was surprised to see Cabela's tractors display at the Big E this year. They are about 300 feet away from the only other tractor dealer at the show. They happen to be a TYM dealer so it's now double the TYM tractors there. Looked at them really quick. One of the workers stated that the Berlin store which opened earlier this year is selling more tractors than any other store.
