Cabela's and TYM Tractors

It's funny when you find yourself quoted in a thread.

Anyhow what seems great to me is that Cabelas is taking on this venture with full support of service. And I have to agree it makes sense. Outdoorsman are buying a lot of tractors. And even better for me Cabelas is teaming up with TYM. I bought mine from a dealer that sold JD greens most of his life. JD consolidated their dealership and said go big or go home. And he choose to sell TYM he said because it had the best quality.

Guess I need to run to my local cabelas and see if they have tym tractors. It's like dating the dorky girl that no one new her name and now she's a super model.

Shogan the T500 was not advertised well by TYM. Not that TYM advertises their products well to begin with. The hood design was not the same as the 433 and 503. I can't remember but does it look more like the Mahindra 5010. If I remember right it was a more basic tractor. Less bells and whistles. Not a bad thing. You still got a lot of tractor for the money. Just remember the USA is TYM's largest market. Hopefully they fix their business model and succeed. I'm still in the market for a 40-50 hp tractor.

TYM has another brand new website right now. Looks good.

Yeah pretty sure it's a 5010 looks just like it.

So cool looking at cabelas website I can see their tractors sporting my perkins 50 hp engine. QA talks about it being tym.

Just spent a couple hours clearing overgrown fence rows. Maybe I'll run to cabelas tongiht and get some filters for my TYM tractor just for fun.

Thanks to Shogan for posting this. The LT550 loader has almost the lifting capacity of the Mahindra 5010.

Checkout the lift height and dump clearance tho, it's much lower. Breakout force and curl strength are pretty low too.

Went to my local tym dealer and mentioned how cabelas was selling tym and mentioned it was going to help the brand name. He didn't seem to agree.

Seems like he is missing the possibility that someone might see them at Cabelas and then see them at his dealership and end up buying from him.

What was your dealer's reasoning? I can understand that he might not want the competition, but I don't think that a tractor that costs like 30% more for the same model with paint is competition. Most folks don't just walk into a retail outlet and drop 15K without doing some research and finding the best deal.

We didn't get that deep in conversation about it. I agree with you. I think he's going to reep the benefits of brand recognition. He's the closest tym dealer to the local Cabelas.

As far as 30% more I not seeing it. Looking at Cabelas sale prices they seem in line with others to me.

I haven't actually compared processes - Cabella's vs. TYM dealer. In fact, my local cabella's doesn't seem to have anything tractor related (bummer actually). I guess I just assumed they were more expensive due to the addition of camo paint and other "woodsy" accoutrement. Actually, I think I read about this in this thread somewhere. Of course, if prices are competitive, your local dealer might have a reason to worry. . . especially if he can't provide good customer service after you buy the tractor.

Still hoping a strong dealership will pick up the TYM brand again in my area. Just about everyone closed up shop with the recession. Even parts are tougher to come by. Used to call my local guy and have the parts drop shipped direct from Redmond, OR. Now, I have to go through a middleman and have parts shipped to a regional dealer and then on to me. Not ideal, but at least I can get parts.
