I don't know if they sell tractors at my local cabelas but am heading there in a bit so I will find out.
As for the question of will they make a go of it or not or even if it was a good move from a business standpoint? I certainly dosnt seem out of the realm of reasonable thinking on their part. If you look at their customer base they certainly will be adding to the list of potential buyers and have a much broader audience to attract new people to possible ownership and uses of a tractor. Anyone who thinks the market for this type of machine has been tapped out is nuts.
Even along the lines of one poster commenting on people moving to the country, then after a year or two going back to the city because of the hardships out here. My neighbors are selling again! They have survived for two winters and in that time purchased a shinny new tractor to clear the snow and do misc work around their property after seing what I could do with my JD when they were trying to dig out an old stump. Now its time they are fed up and sold their machine and house and moving back to the city. The new neighbor is virtually the same as the old fresh from the city and will probably see me or the other neighbor doing the fields in short time and while at the local cabelas see a similar machine and buy it in hopes of being able to use it effectively to maintain their land. Within a year or two they too will sell and move back to the city in favor of an easy life style and sell their machine letting yet an other country wanna be move in in their place. Its a never ending process for these folks as I have had so many new neighbors in that house that I lost count and cant even remember their names any more. Think I am alone here? Don't count on it!
If I knew for certain that my local cabelas was going to sell tractors I would have re thought my purchase and might have even went with a TYM or maybe even a cabelas painted machine if a decent price could be had on one. My only real concern with the TYM was parts and if cabelas is selling them and service their product they will definitely make all the common parts less bothersome and time consuming to get. I also prefer the green paint to the standard red that TYM uses.
Heck! I might even steer them in that direction as when they decide to sell it I might just be able to get myself a nearly new shinny green LM/ TYM tractor to compliment my Kioti,
