You forgot to add: many of the employees will transfer to "other" stores, and that WW is building "I think" 310 NEW stores...

SO, they are doing some "weeding" and "planting"...

SR

My understsnding is that Walmart "had plans" for building a couple hundred stores . . and those plans were formed over a 24 month prior period. THAT plan I understand . . Has been altered greatly. I also understand that the 45,000 is a net layoff effect "after" transfers. In addition, a number you won't see in the media is the number of projected job hires for dtores that arr not going to be built . . and as a result will never be hired to start with . . . but as I said . . you won't see that number in the media of potential new jobs that never became a reality.

Now who is next? Macy's and Walmart now . . Early 2015 It was Dick's who went from plans to build several dozen new stores . . to cancelling all building except 5 that were already more than 60% completed. In 2015 bunches more KMarts and Sears stores disappeared again. And the Saudis' s are deliberately doing everything possible to crush our entire energy sector. Its estimated 1.7 million jobs have been effected between direct energy job losses and infustries related make up the rest. And I'd point out the quantity of those lost jobs is significant for two things: dheer numbers of lost jobs . . but the huge loss of extremely good paying jobs that pay at or better as a college grad software programmer. level for non-college field/rig operator.

And another hidddn loss . . all those who are seeing their mineral right leases cut by 60 to 75% .,. those sre farmers abd landowners in many dtates in yhe country . . . As well as all pension and retirement mutual funds losing chunks of money invested in a huge sector of our economy.

I did some pricing at Cabelas On there woods implements when I was looking for a Backhoe. I priced a woods backhoe from a tractor dealer that I had dealt with on two previous tractor purchases. He told me he couldn't give me a backhoe for less then almost 13,000 for my tractor. A week later I saw almost the exact same backhoe at Cabelas for about 6500 bucks. Not exactly sure what that was about but needless to say I did not purchase any more tractors or implements from that dealer. I would like to see Cabelas continue to sell implements for tractors through woods seems like they have a good thing going there if they can keep their sales staff educated with the products.

Can't say I am going to shed a tear about Walmart scaling back. I do shop there for some high volume stuff, but it can't hold a candle to the local guy who talks me out of buying what I thought I wanted and into buying something that works better and is half the cost.

Absolutely on the mark. I was shopping on Amazon for what I thought I needed. Stopped into a business that deals in what I wanted and got advice on what was available for my needs and set me up. I was going to buy the wrong item.

I don't like Walmart either. I probably only go to Walmart 1 or 2 times a year. I think that Walmart scaling back shows how bad the economy really is. Also look at how many people will be losing their job's, and that will hurt the economy. Walmart has ran out the mom and pop shops and now they are closing down in some towns were they are the only grocery store. I think it is pretty bad that Walmart, America's largest business by revenue is having to cut back.

I also don't shop at Walmart often . . but I like Sams Clubs. Ive found that Walmart gets a bad wrap sometimes when it isn't deserved. Take as an example Sams Clubs. I know employees who have stock provided by the company as part of a retirement program. These employees were not management of any kind. I also found out they get health benefits and were getting 14 and 15 dollars an hour. Again not management people. Around our area working in non-managemrnt jobs is often 10 and 11 dollar pay . . So 14 and 15 with benefits seems better than the media reports.

But here's the real issue . . you really don't want to hear how many 17 to 24 year olds have never held a job on a national basis. You really don't want to know the unemployment rates for college grads of 32 hours or more in their chosen field area. We need lots of jobs for people. We need starting and learning jobs . . and dustaining jobs. We need low pay and mid pay jobs in huge quantities. We need 127,000 jobs every month just to provide for new people entering the work force.

You don't build mature adults if you don't allow people to work and gain experiemce and financial discipline imo. If some don't like Walmart . . Maybe its because they don't understsnd how vital we need them as well as all the small businesses in the country. And the energy sector is needed desperately because its all the small and mid sized energy related companies that are suffering. We all save a little money on gas and lose a lot of money in our narkets snd economy because of it. The Saudi government thinks they are crushing us . . And while it isn't happening as fast as they thought . . It is happening slowly. Ok . . Now I'm done talking about it. Back to tractors lol.

It we worry about keeping Walmart jobs, it is too late. Low cost retail jobs peddling Chinese made products is not something we should covert. China will experience the same thing Japan did and we can compete again at some point. That and eliminating US tax breaks for "restructuring" (read: sending our jobs to China).

Why are we discussing Walmart. What has Walmart got to do with tractors anyway? Maybe they should start selling tractors.
