You forgot to add: many of the employees will transfer to "other" stores, and that WW is building "I think" 310 NEW stores...
SO, they are doing some "weeding" and "planting"...
SR
My understsnding is that Walmart "had plans" for building a couple hundred stores . . and those plans were formed over a 24 month prior period. THAT plan I understand . . Has been altered greatly. I also understand that the 45,000 is a net layoff effect "after" transfers. In addition, a number you won't see in the media is the number of projected job hires for dtores that arr not going to be built . . and as a result will never be hired to start with . . . but as I said . . you won't see that number in the media of potential new jobs that never became a reality.
Now who is next? Macy's and Walmart now . . Early 2015 It was Dick's who went from plans to build several dozen new stores . . to cancelling all building except 5 that were already more than 60% completed. In 2015 bunches more KMarts and Sears stores disappeared again. And the Saudis' s are deliberately doing everything possible to crush our entire energy sector. Its estimated 1.7 million jobs have been effected between direct energy job losses and infustries related make up the rest. And I'd point out the quantity of those lost jobs is significant for two things: dheer numbers of lost jobs . . but the huge loss of extremely good paying jobs that pay at or better as a college grad software programmer. level for non-college field/rig operator.
And another hidddn loss . . all those who are seeing their mineral right leases cut by 60 to 75% .,. those sre farmers abd landowners in many dtates in yhe country . . . As well as all pension and retirement mutual funds losing chunks of money invested in a huge sector of our economy.
