Cabs?

I am a new member to the board & a new owner to a L3830. Just hit 55 hours on the tach. Because I live in the frozen north I need a cab come this winter to use with a snow blower. However Kutoba does not make a fractory cab for that model, So I am looking at Sims& Curtis after market cabs. I would appreciate any pro's or con's that anyone might have about sim's or curtis cabs. Thank you.

Can't tell you anyting about Curtis or Sims cabs. I have a Jodale-Perry hard cab and love it. I had a soft-sided cab on my previous tractor, and while it was better than nothing, it didn't hold a candle to my current one. If an engine coolant heater is not standard, be sure to get one installed. My tractor and cab are of a small enough scale that I can take my cab off for the summer. However, when I put the cab gack on for the winter, rather than bleeding the air out of the heater system I put an inline fuel pump in the heater hose leading to the heater - works great.

I have a 2200 with a sims cab. It's fit and finish appear to be excellent. The cab is great in both winter and summer. It has soft sided doors but other than that it is very solid and QUIET.

One thing I do not like about the heater configuration is that it is behind the seat. In theory that sounds good except that the tubing supplying the heater has to be routed under the tractor. So far I have chewed thru the hoses with the fan on the hst and then just recently managed to sever one of the hoses by mowing with my MMM in the full up position. The dealer has made good on this aftermarket cab but I am getting a bit gun-shy and if another hose gets to leaking I think I will ask to get a front heater rather than fuss with the rear heater.
Remember that you will need a fan blowing on the widshield otherwise you will not be able see thru the condensation.

You might want to think about trying high pressure hyd. hose for you heater problem. It will cost more but it will stand a lot more greif.

I have talked to many dealers and they all said buy the curtis cab over the sims,I have the soft sims on my 3710 and after two yrs. the door dont shut right and the sides are to brittle to put back on.

I have a BX2200 with the Curtis soft side cab. It has a great fit and I feel worth the money spent. I live near Buffalo, NY so it is great in the winter. I don't bother to take it off in the summer as some do as it does make a nice shade cover as well and if you happen to get caught in the rain you stay dry. The doors come off and go on easily and the two side and rear windows are velcro so you still get plenty of ventilation. I don't have a heater yet but do have a electric rear window defroster that I use in winter. It works OK but I'm going to upgrade to a heater soon.

I can't compare the two for you but I will say I am happy with my soft sided Curtis on my BX2200. I have the optional heater which mounts on the firewall of the cab and works fine. Here's a picture.

I have a 3710 with a Curtis Cab, soft doors, plus heater. Been through one Maine winter and it works like a champ. In the summer I run with the doors off, once I was clearing a logging road and managed to knock down an 8" tree that fell toward me. Bounced off the cab, I was lucky and happy for the cab that day!

I'd buy another Curtis with no hesitation. BTW, I bought this tractor used, and it came with the cab already on it. 400 hours on it (100 mine) and the fit/function is just fine.
