Seems that the high price of land and property in California would allow people to cash out, move elsewhere and have a balance left.

Yep. I didn't even have to leave the state, just the city, the bay area and all the crazies. Bought this place cash and had a lot of change.

Not to go all 'tinfoil hat' conspiracy but, if this legislation were to go ahead then an importer with the license for this system (or similar) is going to make a LOT of money... especially if every bovine in the State is required by law to have one fitted!

I showed this device to my wife......she wants me to wear one next time she makes chili.......I love her chili but I think I will draw the line.

Well, the 'Bright Sparks' went ahead and approved it.

Cow Fart Regulations Approved By Californiaç—´ Legislature << CBS San Francisco

The article includes a helpful picture of "cows eating grass in a cowshed".

What's next? A cattlytic converter!

Oh, I guess that the California legislature taking time from their busy schedule to make denim the official State fabric, thanks to assembly bill 501, is what's next. Well, um... congratulations.

What? And waste all that energy? Hook the bag up to your car and you can drive to work and back for a week...and if we could just install one of these on all of the horses hooked to the Amish buggies, they could run an air conditioner, radio, heater, frige, etc.

Nothing much surprises me anymore...

At one time I would make the trip to attend hearings in Sacramento and local City Council meetings to speak on agenda items... sure, everyone was polite and nodded their collective heads... but with the rare exception, it was just lip service as the agenda had been set and these meeting were simply going through the required regulatory motions.

Plus they are experts at the game... on one very hot topic the chambers were filled with maybe a 100 wanting to speak... for months the item would be put over to the next meeting... think it happened 5 times.

In the end, I was one of two people that spoke, it was nearly 1 am in the morning... the lively crowds that had lined up 6 weeks before were all gone... they quickly tired of wasting time only for the item to be rescheduled... and so it goes.

The Administrative process almost always requires the opportunity to submit written comments. These comments are important in case the regulations are challenged in court, because they have to address them, usually in writing. Agencies bent on passing arbitrary regulations can and will do so, but if you follow the process and submit comments and evidence as required, they can be challenged and defeated...provided you have a disinterested court system. The challenges are usually spearheaded by industries most affected by the regulations, and they are usually well funded and handled by competent legal representation. The little guy, however, doesn't stand much of a chance.
