Mine will be going on the back of this beast my IH4800 4x4:

Nice Corn Binder!

I only had one Corn Binder but it was a TRUCK with a slow reving V-8 truck engine, a real granny gear (compound low), PTO powered Ramsey winch, a good strong 4x4 x-fer case. It was used by the film company filming "The Greatest Story Ever Told" and then sold as cab-chassis to an artist in Leucadia, CA who turned it into a home brew walk through motor home. It looked like a cross between a Brinks truck and a field ambulance. Had hots of adventures in that rig.

It could have profited from a backup camera mounted high with a good down angle.

What an ugly name- "corn binder".

Oh no no no, on the contrary, Corn Binder is a term of endearment reserved for the International Harvester, connecting to its proud history with guileless charm and obvious affection. It is even more imbued with strong feelings of loyally than "hawg or hog" in reference to a Harley Davidson bike.

I was first initiated into the use of this term by an appropriately bearded giant of a man who worked second shift at an IH dealer's repair facility (4 til midnight thirty). Virtually all of the work was on equipment much larger than mine but when I needed something done right I could depend on terrific service there and lots of advice, often worth more than the cost of the repair itself.

Believe me, IH & my family go back 4 decades. My dad had IH trucks & and an IH backhoe.

I got to know the saying "not bad for a Corn Binder" when I was just a kid back in the late 60's.

Ah, another child of the 60's. That explains a lot!

I've been looking for some sort of camera system to put in the back of my horse trailer looking forward so I can watch them on long trips. I have a big three horse slant load trailer. Would something like this work good ya think? What type of cable would I have to run to the cab of the truck for the monitor?

Well, I decided to go out and get one today. $98 sheckles at Walmart, my favorite chinese products outlet.:D

During installation, I managed to almost snatch disaster from the jaws of success by cutting the camera wires too short, but alas it's in and it actually works 1/2 decent. Picture is fuzzy here & there when backing up, but good when sitting still.

My biggest complaint is that the plastic bar that holds the camera covers up "Pennsylvania" on my license plate. I wonder it that'll attract my Commonwealths' wonderful law enforcement professionals to me if "pennsylvania" is covered up?

The inexpensive systems like at Wally World for $98 do not run a cable from the camera to the monitor. The camera is wired to your back up light power wire or wherever you want for 12 volts. Many trailer harnesses have a charge wire which is at least hot when the engine is on.

The monitor is hooked up to 12 volts from the dash. Super simple installation (so they say.) See the immediate previous post.
