I suggest you keep the blade and buy a bigger tractor:thumbsup:

Dang...! There ya go! There's always more than "one way" to solve a problem! :D

I wish, but I don't think a new tractor is in the offing.

If a new tractor is out of the question...

Depending on how you're going to use it that blade is probably on the big side as others have said. I have a RB1172 for my 3520 and it's about all the blade it can handle when I really start moving material.

Give it a try and see though. Heck, you all ready have it. Do you have hydraulic top N tilt on the tractor or the hydraulic offset on the blade? They go a long way towards helping to contral a rear blade.

I know what you mean about finding good (quality) used blades. I bought my RB in Maryland and had it shipped to Indiana and it was still cheaper than anything I had found around here.

I don't have the hydraulic N tilt, nor the hydraulic offset. And I'm still paying off this tractor! I only have 51 hours on it. The blade is a good one, so even if I have to cut it down it will probably be worth it!
I only had to travel 2 hours to get it.

I tried the 8' blade out on about 6" of snow -- the tractor handled it ok -- I set the blade at the sharpest angle and it shoved the snow off the drive just right without building up too much drag. Unless there is a drastic difference in deeper snow I'll not be cutting it down. However, I have a very steep hill and it looks like tire chains are in my future!

I use a 84" blade on my 2305. It worked fine for snow. I like it better then the snowblowers, its faster. I use it for less than 6" of snow. So the 3720 should be fine for 12" more and double the HP.:D
I have to say it works better on my 2320 though(more clearance from the ground).

When did my driveway all I had was the 2305 and it did fine to spread out the gravel. I found it worked better using the blade backwards to the curve.

Try experiment, have fun with it!!:D

You can cut it with anything, plasma cutter, sawzall, angle grinder band saw, hack saw. When your done the rough cut, use a straight edge to mark the high spots and grind them away. Touch up the paint and your done. As far a drilling I don't think you can bend the cutting edge anyway so I would worry about it. Just my opinion.:)

Thanks Yelbike for the info and encouragement -- I really hope I don't have to cut it, it sure made quick work of the drive! I did use it backwards some without turning the blade around, and it did fine -- you would have to totally disconnect the blade from the tractor to get that 8' of blade whipped around the other way!

I said that chains were in my future ---- I got them just in time for the winter that never was to be over! I did rotate the rear wheels to the wide position, and the chains still need a little adjusting and tightening -- but I think they will make a big difference.

Nice set of chains. Should make a huge difference in clearing snow. If even more traction is needed you can add weight to the wheels, add fluid to the tires or both (if you haven't already). Or, then again, you could cut the blade to shorter length. At any rate you have a good rig to move snow and it could be made better if necessary.

Thanks Sunnyside360! Ballast hasn't generally been a big issue -- my only traction problem was on the steep gravel slippery drive -- the one time. Part of that may have been because the rear blade I was using wasn't as heavy as my ballast box.
