Can I buy a trailer for my tractor around $2000

The lowest priced new 18' equipment trailer around here is from Kaufman Trailers located in Lexington NC and you have to pick it up. I know that is not an option but wanted to give you the link.

Trailers hold their value and I've found that even if someone wants to sell one second hand they typically want 85 to 90 percent the price of a new one.

Thanks for all the response guys, I'm selling my XJ2025h (classic deciding bigger better afterwards) and am looking at a slightly used mahindra 2538 so definitely want atleast a 7500' axled trailer, the tractor is actually in NC, so the Kaufman dealership place might work, thanks

Nice looks good, if only I could sell my Xj2025, I'd be on the road today, what are everyone's thought on metal deck vs wood deck,, and i assume that last 2 feet of the trailers that dive down are fixed, I'm sure it's nice for loading but how useable is it after that, thanks everyone

You will need a trailer with two 5,000 lb. axles (10,000 GVWR)
I did not buy my (14K) trailer from Kaufman, because they require the buyer to arrange unloading, and I was not in a position to do that.
That said: I have only heard good reports about Kaufman !

Is there anywhere along the east coast states where i could purchase a "New" 16-18' equipment trailer with dual axles and brakes to haul around my 4000lb. tractor,, my budget would be around $2000 So I'm not sure if it would be possible, thanks
I see you put new in quotes. Also you state a 4,000 lb tractor.
Does "new" mean "lightly used" or better"?
Trailer tires often need to be replaced every seven years even if they have plenty of tread so take that into account when pricing. And 4,000 lb tractor. Is that with everything? Do you want a 5k payload? a 10K payload?

I frequently find on CL equipment trailers rated for 7K for "about" $2K. But I bet they ALL need new tires, thus $200 or more.

Consider if you MIGHT get a larger tractor in the future.

I bought my 12K Hudson trailer used because it came with my 2K tractor. Four years later I needed it for the 7K tractor I bought.

Around my area, Washington DC, 5K and 7K trailers (that carry <4K and 5K payloads) are very common.

Also consider transportation costs. What would it cost you in time and all money (fuel, wear and tear, insurance etc) to drive a 100 miles? I peg my costs at $1/mile so if I have to drive 100 miles to pick something up it cost me $100 more.

Check Messicks Used Bri-Mar 21'.

They've a couple of used trailers in your price range. One is a 11K.

Both 2' beavertail, and wood v/s steel deck are simply personal preference.
I have a beavertail to keep the loading ramp angle at a minimum, and I can drop my hoe on the angle portion.
I have a wood deck, because I am near the salt water, though I do store my (20') trailer inside.

If looking at used you may not want a landscape trailer. They usually are not as wide as an equipment trailer and the Mahindra you are considering may be too wide to fit.
As for selling your XJ I've had good luck on CL. Sold my last tractor in less than a week and got almost what I paid for it 4 years prior.

If you call around to all the dealers in your area (and some out of it), you may get lucky.

I needed an 18-20' equipment trailer for as little as possible.

Called around and about an hour away I found an 18' tandem, 7k per axle with brakes on both for 2500.

It was brand new but was 3 years old. It had been sitting on their lot for so long and they wanted it gone. Incredible deal imo so it was worth the drive.

The trailer hasn't missed a beat and is great!

I could go for something like that at that price because I do not want to go with less than 7-8 ton twin axles if 82" or wider. Nice find. Is the deck steel or wood.

Is the total tractor weight 4k, including loader and implements? Then you don't even really HAVE to get a 10k equipment trailer. Most 7k car haulers can carry ~5k lbs.

That being said, people always kick themselves for getting not enough trailer. Seen it dozens of times.

For example, I'm in the same situation as you, want to haul my little 30HP machine around, probably 4-4.5k with implements. But I'm planning to wait and save for a 10k equip trailer, not a 7k car hauler.

7k car haulers go for $2k new all day long here in Michigan. Maybe a road trip is worth your while?
