I've never used one of those cameras, but I'm surprised you weren't able to see with the tank empty. Just off-hand, do you know how big your tank is? Mine is 10.8 gallons according to the book. You're right, the tank is made of plastic, too. The spout should last just as long in there, and I bet my funnel will, too. But I still want it out.
It'll work. Or get some electric fence wire...........about any semi-stiff, small diameter wire wil do.
The fishing expedition was a success. The picture shows the big one that didn't get away, snagged with a hook on the end of a piece of electric fence wire. Big thanks to Don87 for that suggestion. I didn't have luck going in through the filler neck, so I decided to try taking off the fuel gauge sending unit. Had to remove the hood to access that area, but that was easy. With the sending unit out, I shined a flashlight straight down and could see the funnel. Reached in with the wire and snagged it on the first try! By the looks of where the funnel was laying, it probably wouldn't have bothered anything, but I feel better having it out.
The other picture shows why I was experimenting with the funnel extension. I was making a platform to perch on top of the hood to carry tools and equipment. Unfortunately it sits over the fuel filler area, but I found that a flexible tube attached to the funnel will get the diesel in.
Thanks again to all who offered advice, glad I didn't have to resort to turning the tractor upside down and shaking...
