Don't know if you're a Dilbert (comic strip) fan or not, but Sunday's summed up modern life's occasional problems. The text was:

"I'm like a fly stuck in the thick tar of despair."
"Incompetence hangs in the air like the cold stench of death."
"I'm drowning, and monkeys dress as lifeguards are throwing me anvils."
"My job has convinced me that life is a stale joke with no punchline."
"I long for the comfort of the grave."

Now I'm laughing!

Again, thanks!

Did you see the one with his mom this week?:D

Interesting idea, and i support it.

My only issue is that there are maybe 30 active PT members on this forum and I am sure over 2000 PT's sold at this point. Doing the math we statistically don't mean squat.

Yep! There are at least 7 other PTs within 10 miles of my home: five 400 series, one 1425 and one 1430, plus mine makes 8. Yet only one of the owner's (ME) is on this board. Why? Because they are all commercially used units. The owners probably do not have time to be on internet boards. They use them, break them, repair them and use them again. From the looks of PT's home office, the pictures of product in production, it looks like they are doing fine. Why should they change? It may make more business for them that they do not want... that is... homeowners calling them about problems that a good shop mechanic can repair in minutes. Let's face it, we homeowners are not their bread and butter.

the few times i had to call to get info terry has provided good info. one piece of it was wrong but for the most part it was helpfull. I dont like the 50 dollar minium either but i can understand where they come from with that. For example, Say you want to order a $10 dollar part from them. How many people does the order go thru and the time it takes from the person taking the phone call to the person actually shipping it out. It probably costs them more than the $10 dollar part to process it and ship it out. my 2 cents worth

I totally disagree with that part of your statement, for this reason. They are one of a kind company, and as such should provide parts as ordered, no matter what the price. We pay the shipping. So in essence, they want us to come up with things that we don't need just to get that o-ring kit. I will be dam* if I order from them just for their silly whim. I will go to Eaton for the parts that I need for my pump. They claim to know nothing about the Ford gas engine in my 1445, hellfire, they built it. Sad but true.

Yes, someone could make some money by producing a decent manual with complete wiring and hydraulic schematics, plus all the good Tod bits of data that we have developed, including hints, short cuts, etc. and put them in a book, and or a CD.

Has anyone considered putting all these post on a CD, or DVD? Would there be any problem with using remarks from other people. or is this considered a public forum. If it is public, and all the data has been seen, then I think it is fair game to copy for personal use. What say you?

Kent has been trying to get a web site going for a few years I believe for this very purpose, but he doesn't seem to get much traffic. He actually was at one point thinking of giving up:eek: I don't think I am alloweed to post the address, but I am sure you can PM me or him and we could give it to you. Maybe we could consolidate it all to one site for reference purposes.

I truly think that it would take a lot of effort to extrude the pertinent knowledge from all the post being as we all say something knowledgeable , and then maybe ramble on . My idea would be to cluster, say the 425 data in a group, and in a similar fashion all the other PT's. Each of the owners have posted some pertinent data about their machines. Same with pictures, with all data crossed referenced. All the tire pressure data. Tips from hanging up on a tree. etc. Tire stem episode.

For instance, to tow the PT, you first turn the bypass valve, and then tow at a slow speed for only a short distance. Show picture where bypass valve is located. A note would be added to not to forget to return the bypass valve to the tram position.

All the mods could be organized in groups. I guess it could be done if someone had the time and the knowhow.

I could be wrong but I think his site does group it. There is already some info there. If we would use it from now on in conjuction with this site I think we could have something.

Yeah, I started something then got discouraged because I don't have the time to do it all myself and there didn't seem to be a whole lot of interest.

The software running on it now is slooooooow sometimes, but I found a different setup that works quite a bit faster, though I never took the time to fully-implement and get it going. If there truly is enough interest, I'd be willing to try again...

But, as I said, I can't do it all by myself. I can set up the software, but I don't have the time to create the content, however it it gets created, whether copying in info from other places and editiing it, or scanning documents and diagrams, or whatever.
