The majority of people will do what is right 100% of the time...

Based on my own observations from national, regional and local news...and what is popular in social media, broadcast and cable television etc., etc...political activities, actions and protests etc., etc...

I don't think "the majority" of people have a clue what is right...any of the time...period...!

It's just more government intrusion, big brother, 1984 bull crap.
Permit required, kiss there butt and "we" may allow it if we like it.
Private property maybe if your nice to some damned appointed bureaucrat, not even an elected official.
Definition of a bureaucrat = self procreating parasitic blood sucking leech

If the ordinances existed prior to her signs, were enacted via due process, and are equally enforced for all, she's in the wrong.

Keep the flags up. Make the signs a bit smaller so they comply with the ordinances. Your neighbors don't need large political messages in their faces every day, just as she wouldn't want to be faced with "Her Turn!" signs each and every day, had Clinton won last November.

If you don't want ordinances like that, either a) don't move to a city that has them, or b) get involved in the political process and get them repealed by petitioning and lobbying, or c) move someplace that doesn't have such things on the books.

Cut the banner into separate sections , each under the limit. Hang them next to each other.

The town of Windsor Heights, Iowa just went through this process. The home owner had to take down a 4x6' sign on the front porch, but just temporarily. He took the town to court and won. He keeps the sign and the town has to restructure it's sign ordinances.

Saw this on the news tonight, talk about a load of krap. The city of Rockland Me. says this woman who wants to display her pro Trump sign on her so called own land will pay a find or go to jail, the cities puppets say the signs are just a wee bit too big. This might soon happen at a town near you or even out in the country.

So does this rule mean I cant put up a big Merry Christmas sign without a permit, the thing about permits is they can permit you or permit you not, guess it depends if you voted for Trump or Hillary.
'Shocked': Maine Woman Ordered by City to Take Down Pro-Trump Signs - NECN

She's not "sorry," it has nothing to do with free speech, and you don't go to jail for code violations. She can say anything she wants as long as her signs meet residential standards. She just wants to be an *******.

I'd cut it in to 4 pieces and leave it in place. Then she has 4 signs rather than 1 which is too large. It is following code and sticking a finger in the air to whomever decided to turn her in.

The majority of people will do what is right 100% of the time. Then you have the minority who will not do what is right anytime time. The majority in society bands together and establishes rules and regulation governing what is and what is not allowed in a neighborhood zoned as residential.to insure a minority minded individuals who moves into their neighborhood cannot turn his home and there neighborhood into a slum degrading the property values.

It is not the majority that make decisions. When I worked for municipal governments 5% of the citizens knew what was going on and participated. They voted, ran for office, showed up for city council meetings, and sat on boards and commissions. Another 5% knew what was going on and voted in elections. The other 90% didn't know or care what was going on or bother to get involved, including voting, yet they were the first to complain when they didn't like what was happening to them.

Look at any election results whether it be local, state, or national elections and unless something really controversial is on the ballot very few people take the time to vote. The last 2 presidential elections had record voter turnouts of 58% which is really sad. Even with such polarizing candidates 4 out of every 10 registered voters did not go to the polls.

If you want your voice heard you need to get involved.

The problem I see is the definitions of regulations has too much for interpretation. It's not just one interpretation either. The COE can believe one thing, the town attorney another, you another, and the judge another.

As some have posted... Can she cut the signs up and put them next to eachother? Is there a total sqft of signs a single person can have? What is a sign? If she put them on a pole do they become flags? Many of her signs are banners in my opinion. How about no tresspassing signs? The law may require people to have them, but if there's too many would then violate the total sqft? Sorry, but engineers can ruin any laws written by a politician.

In my town, I found out that the town doesn't believe there is ANY difference between a cow and a chicken. :) And I'm beyond the suburbs with lots of land being farmed!
