Town ordinance for who.........I just wonder if the same sign said, We Support Hillary, or Black Lives matter, then the town official came out said the sign is to big you must take it down, pay fine, or go to jail, I just wonder if they'd be riots in the streets, tipped over cars, broken windows until the town's ordinance was changed, but when someone puts a sign up that's supports Trump, the loud crowd liberals will bring out tape measures, surveying equipment, gps, satellite imaging and prove the sign is 2" too big.

I guess it takes a 75 year woman to stand up against liberal government ordinances, she's not taken the signs down, looks like a really really big shew.

We had some of those shenanigans in a town nearby. The guy being targeted (and he was being targeted) simply went around and got pic's of all the other numerous signs that were in violation and said he would take his down after they had the other signs taken down.

Hasn't heard back from the city for over a year now.

That's what people miss.

This ordinance was out prior to the sign going up. Doesn't matter what the sign says or if some code official missed it, it's violating the ordinance. Dosen't matter if it's a democrat or republican sign or any sign for that matter, it's in violation of the local code.

Don't like the local code? Take it up with your local government.

• The letter of the "law" in the sign ordinance was open to question.
• There were other people doing the exact same thing as the food truck yet they had no problems.
• The mayor is now out of office and there are plenty of people doing what the food truck owner was doing.

So it is not so cut and dried.

The same mayor was doing other things there were unethical as can be. Sad thing is that he was elected multiple times and the only reason why he is not in office is that he did not run for the office again.

My guess on the issue was that there was a local supporter of the mayor who did not want the food truck in that location, ie, competition, or hated the food truck owner. Twas not the only time he pulled similar stunts.

It is cut and dry if documented properly.

People DO abuse power. However, if something is well documented and the abuse can be shown, I have no doubt the news would pick up on it.

This original thread made headlines because it was a trump poster IMO.

Personally, per the code in this Maine county, the sqaure area allowed is pretty small in my own opinion. If I were the lady per the article, I'd be going around finding out who else is breaking the ordiance and start asking questions. If she is the ONLY person breaking the ordinance, well, she's breaking it. However, if multiple people are also breaking the same ordinance she is but they aren't being addressed per the same code she's breaking, NOW you have a story.

Sigarms - maybe things are different where you live, but around this part of NY, I've never heard of a code enforcement officer doing anything against what someone has done UNLESS someone complains. It is also pretty rare to even have the person who complained actually get involved if the people fight it. As mentioned in my prior post, the laws leave a lot to interpretation. Is a no tresspassing sign a sign? If you have the house number posted at the end of your driveway, will that count.

People are targeted all the time by individuals in their local government. I've run into cases were someone is harrassed/threatened with fines by their local code enforcement officer. They are told to stop something or change something because someone complained. When they request what code they are violated, sometimes they won't get a response because they aren't, but the town won't back down!

Consider yourself blessed if you don't have this going on around you.

His crime was a pedestal mounted American flag that he put out each day when the shop was open...

He dug in his heels and got a lawyer and went to court... the municipality LOST...

For 19 years there was never a problem and then there was a complaint from someone that found the flag offensive...
