Isn't it funny how we can get from tractor canopies to motorcycles!!!! Yup. the Wing was a good bike! I bought it as a repo in 87 and got a good buy on it, but even at that time I wanted to have one of 'them thar new evolution Harley's" with the rubber mount engines. But was just not in the cards yet. Finally got a brand new 1992 Electra-Glide classic- Then proceeded to put the Wing up for sale. Then promptly proceeded to put about 55000 miles on the H-D. The only "non-expendable" repair I did to the HD was replace the voltage regulator; On the Wing, I had to replace the alternator(no easy task), and one head gasket, all in 43000 miles. But as the saying goes; If it has ____ or wheels; sooner or later you're gonna have trouble with it!!! Don
Don, I've never owned a Harley and never had any desire to own one; only had Yamaha, Hondas, and BMW. And I never had to do much work on any of them because I bought them new and didn't put a lot of miles on any of them before selling or trading. I only put 11,000 on the Aspencade, so it was never back in the shop except to get an aftermarket cruise control, trailer hitch, and trailer light wiring done.

Don't take it that I am downplaying the quality of the Wing--all things mechanical are just that--and sooner or later, will fail. Regardless of who builds them! Like what's best-Ford or Chevy, or Mopar?? I can buy a brand new GM, drive it around the block, and have a breakdown!! Some one else can take the same vehicle and drive it for 100,000 miles and never see a repair shop!! Is one better than the other, I don't think so!
Gotta go now, have a good weekend. Been fun yakking with you . Don

I couldn't agree more. Three summers back we hosted the national HOG (Harley Owners Group) convention here and this past summer hosted the 25th anniversary Wing Ding Goldwing convention and I had a great time with the people from each.
It was a lot of fun being the only Wing at the HOG convention and just as much fun having about the oldest Wing at the Wing Ding (mine is a chromed out '83). Great people all. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
