Tractor
Kubota BX24
I wanted a cover to keep my tractor and implements out of the rain.
Making a proper shed that's big enough would require permits and
money that I don't have right now. But for about $300 I was able
to buy a canvas carport and put it up on posts so there's enough
height to make it comfortable driving the tractor in and out with
the ROPS and sunshade up.

I have wanted to do something similar but haven't because we usually get around a foot or two of snow and I am afraid the canopy will collapse.

I have a Cover It brand here in NH, and it has held up to HEAVY snow, with freezing Ice/ rain on top...

The DOME roof is key...Most of the snow slides off the sides...a strip about 2feet wide remains and with a slight shake with a push broom of the roof from inside the rest falls down...

I only do this after heavy snows...6-8" no worries.. The shed/barn type shelters don't last in the snow...

5 years and runing...

What would something like that cost?

Shelter logic / cover it..

Mine is a 24 x 12 x 10 Tall. It comes as a 8 tall and you add the 2' extensions... with a heavy duty cover..

I paid $750 (local pick up) 5 years ago... Also installed peak vents $50 kit, It comes with the zipper doors and they sell a roll up kit but I made my own roll up with 3/4 pip and some pulleys..

Covers are replacable if needed..

Best investment! stores my tractor, lawn tractor, implements, mowers, snow blower..., Kindling, carpentry tools etc...

I made a 2 x 6 base from Pressure treated and then filled the middle with 3/4 crushed stone...

A **** af a lot cheaper than a $15 -20K barn!

No permits:D

I purchased a 12' X 24' CoverIt canopy several years ago. It held up very well in the Vermont winters. I purchased the canopy with a translucent section in the roof for light. The seams of the translucent section and the heavy duty vinyl skin failed and the wind blew a portion of the translucent section off. I am using a large vinyl tarp for a skin now.

Great idea guys, I was contemplating what to do this winter because I keep my machine in my basement, and its a real pain putting the roll bar up and down and leaves a mess in the winter when it defrosts. So this is what I came up with, I wanted to cover the walls, but fell short on time, winter came quick! And cant do so till spring time because I wanna pour some concrete. These units are very reasonably cheap. Mine cost $2g, and it is 20x27, and a crew of guys did the whole assembly in about 3hrs, which is included in price. The company comes from North Carolina

I will add that here on the NH seacoast, we don't get light snow...IE is usually a wet heavy snow...

You can't just ignore the snow load but 5 minutes preventive measures after a storm, keeps it standing...

One of my coworkers has a dome as well going on 10 years. Original skin too..

Where are you located? Those are the ones that don't handle a snow load well...might as well have a flat roof...You'll need to rake that after every storm and maybe during if you get a big snow fall

Western ny, and we get a lot of snow bud! Thats why my machine is gonna stay under the house this winter, I really wanted to have this all stiffened up and side walls covered by winter, but just never happened. Its been thru alot of wind so far, up to 60mph storms, but not sure how it will handle snow load on its own. A tool rental place in town sells them for the company, and there demo model has been there for 7yrs so far, but there unit is alot smaller with real short posts. But I do see a descent amount of them around and they all survive every winter, so well see. It is very windy by me, and im in a low lying area and it is common to have four five foot drifts all around with nothing on the roof of the house.

Forgot to mention bud, thru a little research, the company is southern based and recomend a different style roof for northern zones that get snow. The standard roof is ribbed, which wont alow snow to slide off, I got the northern style, which is stepped.

Good luck..Carolina sheds Right? Paul Jr did a bike build for them..

Although the metal roofed sheds are not nearly as bad as the canvas sheds...

I don't know why anyone who lives in an area that gets over 12 inches of snow would buy a barn roof style canvas shed...Just waiting for it to collapse

So this is what I came up with:

I have seen these. My big sister has 3, one for her husband, second one for her, the third one for her 9 mini horses.

Think you made a wise choice, good value too.

I looked into them but their waiting list was 6 weeks so below is what I came up with. However at 50% more money then yours and only 16x24 in size. But I guess high n open south side lots better for fire wood drying.

Nice...looks nice and solid... Why so tall? seems like you cold have dropped the pitch a bit and maybe the overall height a foot or 2...giving less weather exposure..

GlennaR,

I like it. Lots of overhead storage also if you decide to put siding on the shed. Are the posts sunk in the ground or are they attached to concrete piers?

What would something like that cost?

I bought the exact same one (no vent kit) with the roll up door this year. For all fellow Canadians out there, reg price at Canadian Tire is $700, sale price was $400. They go on sale several time a year, I waited and got it in the spring.

Only shelter I could find with 8ft door opening. 12' X 24', means lots of space to drop the BH and other implements.
