Capless fuel tanks... is the idea as dumb as it seems?

I guess time will tell. So far it doesn't seem to be the actuator or it's internal circuit board, or I can't imagine it just starting to work again.

Back when Ohio had emissions test, defective fuel cap was a leading cause of test failure. Loose fuel cap on ground near gas station was common also

I believe it was Henry Ford who said not to worry about automobiles putting buggies and carriages out of businesses not 1 person in 100 would be able to learn to drive them.

You'll have to provide a source for that quote. I think you're mis-attributing the quote to Ford, who would never say anything that ludicrous about automobiles. I have four biographies of Ford and the quote does not appear in any biography. It also does not appear in any Internet searches of "Ford quotes," or "Quote of Henry Ford."

Do you really think that a man who devoted his life, from an early age, to the development of the automobile would say "not to worry about automobiles putting buggies and carriages out of business"? I find that hard to believe as it is so un-Ford like in its sentiment. So please, provide a source, other than what you believe or your memory of reading something somewhere, as I'd like to know the source that directly ties the quote to Ford.

I freaked at first because of no twisty cap on our 2010 F-150 but there has been no fuel problems for two years so I guess it works. I have never left it off and took off.
