CARS FROM YOUR PAST

My first car- a 1962 Ford Sunliner convertible- had an automatic transmission that burnt/leaked fluid, some days I looked like a mosquito fogger.

I still get bit by the car bug- currently have a 1956 MGA Roadster and a 2006 Pontiac Solstice Roadster- the MGA is fun to drive but the Pontiac has air conditioning that works great with the top down!

We also have some other, "practical" cars/trucks".

From all the cars you've previously owned.
If you could have only one of them back which one would it be?
First Choice?
Second choice?
Third choice?
===========================
My choices are as follows

1* 1960 Chevy Impala Convertible:Of all the cars I've previously owned.
If I could only have one of them back it would have to be the Black 1960 Chevy Impala Convertible with the white rag top and the red and white interior.
It was one sharp looking machine and a real mover with the 348 engine with 3 duces and a racing cam.

2* 1971Chevelle Malabu Convertible: The closest picture to it that I could find on the net
1972 Chevelle SS Picture
3* 1950 chevy: This car has a special place in my hart as it was my first car.
It was exactly like the one pictured.

I know I'm from a different country but here goes.

First.....1966 Mini Cooper.. She was fast and turned heads at the time, the car to have in the sixties

Second...!950's Austin A30.. because it was my first propper car

Third... 1972 Moskvitch..because it was fun and kept going through the snow and ice, never let me down

:)

I hate parting with any car, whether they be near new or clap out old bangers because every one holds memories of good times.......as to the favourites I've owned:-

1. Jensen Interceptor (pictured below, still own it, & after close on 27yrs never fails to put a :D on my face: much modified to increase performance 440 Dodge Magnum motor, Six pack Carbs, Manualised Torquefite, 3" tuned exhaust....sounds akin to God clearing his throat...)
2. Datsun 240Z ( Didn't appreciate how much fun it was 'til I sold it......dum things you do when you're young )
3. Boss Mustang 1971 351 Mach I (Only owned for c.3 months, couldn't afford to keep it then & sure wouldn't pay the price they're bringing now.....the clutch sorted out the men from the boys & no redeeming features, apart from the sweet sound & performance !!!... )
4. Studebaker Golden Hawk (One cool early '60's car which turned heads in the '80's looked great in black, unfortunately the paint was about the only thing holding my rust bucket together, still long for another)
5. Australian Built Valiant RT E49 Charger (look 'em up on the net - incredible performanc : 265 ci Hemi straight 6, rev'd like there's no tomorrow & triple 38mm Webbers.....stock pulled 13.2's 1/4 mile & as modified mine did a lot better than that ....paid S/H $4380 & I was very happy to make a profit by selling @ $6250 ......now worth $100k+.... how times have changed.....)
Though I'd be equally happy if I could turn back the clock 'til I was 18 & relive one surfng holiday following the coast living out of old battered split window VW Kombi for 3months, great times & not a worry in the world.......

1st MY 67 Camaro, 327 two speedpowerglide

2nd 76 CJ5 with the 258

13 cars and truck later,I'd say those where the only 2 as I had my share of 200 hundred dollar cars.

I kept the one i love the most and had it for over 20 years, just turned 41k on the odo.
Its my 80CJ-5 with original rootbeer brown metallic paint, 258 and fourspeed. Never driven in the winter. Recon I need a photo of that thing!

First car was a '56 Ford. Fix or repair daily was true for that piece of junk. Just about everything that could go wrong went wrong with it. 7 miles per gallon in town, 10 on the highway. Engine got a cracked piston at about 80K miles.

Second was a '58 Chevy wagon, with 16K on it when I bought it. 16 mpg, by 100K the transmission started to slip. That was the only thing that ever went wrong with it.

Next was a '66 Nova wagon, with 12 K when I bought it. Handle on parking break periodically broke until I replaced it with a piece of dowel. A cross arm in the clutch linkage periodically broke until I reinforced the thing with a hose clamp. Then at 140K, the engine started burning oil. I replaced the engine and clutch (first time for the clutch). Those were the only repairs; everything else was normal wear--brakes, water pump, etc. Was a Chevy fan for quite awhile after that.

Had a bunch of other cars (hey, I'm 69 yrs. old). Favorites included a '72 Saab 99, a '93 Accord, our 2002 Saab 9-5 and my 2005 Tacoma.

I'm jealous! Hemi 6 cylinder! Read enough about them; would love to have $$$ to even find one, and then get it to the States....

I'd like a Falcon GTHO too. But a 2-door... 4spd...

My 2nd car was a 65 chevy two rag top, sold it for $100, about ten years ago i heard it was worth $7000 in restorable condition. It was a sweet little car, 350, 4 speed, royal blue with a white top. Yes I wish I had it back.

The car I learned on was only 1/2 mine. 69 Bel-Air, straight 6, three on the tree. Boy did that car have a large back seat. Front seat too!

But the one I liked the most... 1970 Triumph GT6+. 6 cyl engine in a sub 2000 lb car. Ya, it was a death trap!

2 and 3rd choices? 69 BMW 2002 and 69 Lemans.
